April Empties: A Different Approach

Hey beauties! It’s well into May and this April Empties is a little late but I decided to do something a little different this month. If you’ve been around any length of time, you’ll know that my empties posts can be quite epic. In other words, there are tons of them. This month, instead of featuring every single empty item and dividing them into several categories (skincare, makeup, bath and body etc), I’m going to scale things down. I’m going to limit myself to ten items and split them into two simple categories: Yes (I will repurchase) and No (I won’t repurchase).

April Empties

I think empties post can still be helpful because they give the reader an idea of what products may be worth checking out. But when there are 50 items in a post, it can get overwhelming and distracting. So I hope this new set-up proves to be more relevant and useful. And my apologies for the quality of the photos. Lighting problems. Let’s get on with it….

April Empties – Yes (I will repurchase):

April Empties

Maybelline Color Tattoo: This one is a lovely Emerald Green that, unfortunately, dried out before I could finish it. It’s well over 2 years old. I love the Maybelline Color Tattoos in general and will probably always have a few in my collection.

Cover Fx Mattifying Primer (Full Review): This primer works great and is comparable to the Smashbox Photo Finish, though a tad less “greasy” feeling. It is moderately mattifying but not in a “dry your skin out” way. I also like the addition of the salicylic acid which I always enjoy in products to help keep breakouts at bay.

Cover Fx BB Gel Mattifying Anti-Blemish Treatment  (Full Review): I really, really like this BB gel and have finished three deluxe sample tubes.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet (Full Review): One of my HG foundations. It reminds me of the Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation but with a little less of a powder-like effect and also blends, much, much better.

Nest Indigo Fragrance (Full Review): A scent that verges on masculine with a sophisticated, clean sweetness from the fig that makes it irresistible.

**Modere Antioxidant Hair Serum (Full Review):  A non-greasy oil serum that does a decent job of controlling frizz and making curls look healthy.

April Empties – No (I won’t repurchase):

April Empties

Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combo Skin (Full review): I don’t necessarily dislike this BB cream but given that I can only use it during the cooler months of the year, it’s not worth purchasing for me anytime soon.

Lancome Visionnaire Serum (Full Review): Honestly, I don’t feel like this did anything for my skin that wasn’t superficial.

Hourglass Film Noir Mascara: Just an O.K. mascara. It didn’t give me enough length or volume.

  1. Good post. I love empties posts for the same reason as you; because it gives me a better idea of whether something really is worth the purchase price x

    1. Thanks, sweetie. Glad we’re on the same page, hehe. 🙂 xo

  2. I love the Maybelline Color Tattoos as well! I need to get some more of them lol. I like how you separated these products into repurchasing and not repurchasing. Great post! <3 xo

    1. Thank you, Katie. I’m hoping this new set-up works better. 🙂

  3. Great post, I never remember to keep my empties for a post haha. Shame that the Maybelline Colour Tattoo dried out it’s a gorgeous shade, I’ve heard storing them upside down helps to keep them longer. I really want to try out one Cover FX products so I hope I can find a counter soon here in the UK x

    1. Thanks, Alina. I was storing them upside down and sometimes I mix in some facial oil to revive them (just a drop) but it was beyond saving, lol. I hope you guys get a CoverFx counter soon as well. xo
