Another birthday haul item, the Chanel Rose Initiale Joues Contraste Blush is a gorgeous everyday sort of neutral pink for light to medium skin tones. At first glance, it may seem a little boring, but after having had a chance to test it out for a few weeks now, it’s definitely one that I think I’ll end up reaching for often…
Housed in the iconic Joues Contraste black compact with mirror, it comes with the small Chanel blush brush and velvet black pouch.
Rose Initiale is described as a peachy pink complimented by subtle, peachy golden shimmers. The shimmers, thankfully, don’t emphasize pores and translate into more of a sheen once applied to the skin. Actually, they really brighten the face, creating a healthy sort of glow. Pigmentation on the blush is great – buildable and blendable – while the texture is soft and smooth and the finish on the skin is very natural. Rose Initiale wears well for a full work day (about 8-9 hours).
The swatch shown above is on the heavier side (about three swipes, dry). While I think that the undertones of this blush are fairly neutral, depending on the lighting, you will see either more of the peachy tones or pink tones become more pronounced. And, in fact, it does lean a little warmer on my skin-tone (light to medium, yellow/peachy tones).
Retails for $45.00 USD at Chanel and Chanel retailers.
I don’t have many Chanel blushes in my collection (this makes 3) but I’m definitely happy to have this one. Are you a fan of the Joues Contraste Blushes? Which are your favourite?
