Happy Sunday! Ah, Sundays…for many of us, this is the day of the week when we take a bit of time to relax. For beauty enthusiasts, this is also when we usually will treat ourselves to bit of a pamper session (time permitting). In that spirit, I thought I’d take this opportunity to discuss some delightful spa worthy products I recently picked up state-side at Target. Yes, Target. Dead Sea Essentials by AHAVA seems to be a more affordable off shoot of the global brand and I must say that the two products I picked up have the look and feel of being more expensive than they actually are. It doesn’t hurt that they work well either!
Dead Sea Essentials by AHAVA Nourishing Milk & Honey Sugar Salt Scrub
This sugar-salt scrub is described has having a Nourishing Milk & Honey scent and containing mineral-rich salts and organic sugar granules. The scent is pleasantly warm yet fresh and not at all overpowering. It lingers on the skin just enough to know it’s there while still being light enough not to compete with any other products.
Although not suspended in oil, the texture of this scrub is reminiscent of traditional salt/sugar scrubs in the sense that it does not have the kind of gel-like, tacky consistency “modern” scrubs have taken on. I am thinking of scrubs like the ones made by Tree Hut or even Bath & Body Works in which the salts/sugars sort of cling together so when you use it, you don’t have granule “fall-out”. Mind you, I like those brands as well, but something about the texture of this scrub makes it feel more expensive and the experience more luxurious. The granules are neither too coarse not too fine. Once dissolved, they leave a creamy layer on the skin that washes away easily leaving it feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. I can sometimes skip a moisturizing all together.
I gather that the Milk & Honey is a newer addition to the line of Sugar Salt scrubs, which include: Comforting Vanilla, Hydrating Hibiscus, Invigorating Eucalyptus, and Calming Lavender. The Sugar Salt Body Scrubs retail for a very affordable $11.99 USD.
The product is listed as free of: Parabens, Phthalates, SLS/SLES and not tested on animals.
Dead Sea Essentials by AHAVA Tea Tree Oil Foot Cream
According to the brand, “minerals meet botanicals in this rich cream”. It claims to provide rapid relief to tired, cracked & dry feet and contain dead sea minerals that “work to deliver essential moisture while the natural health protecting & deodorizing properties of tea tree oil are formulated to repair chapped, cracked or calloused feet”.
I must say, I’ve really, really been enjoying this foot cream. My favorite characteristic has got to be how the product absorbs. So you know how when you use some foot creams that are very emollient, you either have to put some socks on or make sure you’re feet don’t touch the ground for at least 15 minutes or more? Well I find that once applied, this cream absorbs very quickly, leaving an almost powder like finish. I can basically start walking on my (non-carpeted) floors within 2 minutes. Awesome. Of course, I do like those heavy rich foot treatments as well and occasionally use socks to “lock in” the moisture, but it’s very convenient to have the option of using a product that absorbs so quickly but still moisturizes well. I had been neglecting my feet as of late and noticed my heels appeared less dry after using this for about three weeks. The scent is fresh, kind of minty and the tea tree oil comes across in a pleasant way. Also, there is a very slight, almost imperceptible, cooling sensation when first applied.
The product is listed as free of: Parabens, Phthalate and not tested on animals.
The tea tree oil foot cream retails for $10.49 USD.
