A multi-functional palette that’s named Devoted to YSL? What could be more perfect for yours truly? Well, Mr. Bear certainly thought so. He gifted me the Devoted to YSL Palette Parisienne back in February for Valentine’s Day. It is one of the Yves Saint Laurent Beauty duty free travel exclusives. And as far as travel palettes go, this one has a little bit of everything.
The palette is housed in an elegant looking pouch that sorts of looks like a clutch purse. When you unsnap it there are inserts which hold some small brushes (eyeshadow brush, blush brush, lip brush) and a mini Volume Effet Faux-Cils Shocking mascara.
I love the compact itself which has a nice weight and a super sleek black finish with YSL lettering in gold.
The Devoted to YSL Palette includes five Ombres 5 Lumieres Eye Shadows, three Rouges Levres Pur Couture Lip Colours, a Golden Gloss Lip Gloss and a blush.
Lets take a look at some swatches.
I think the shadows actually swatch better than they look in the palette.
Persian Blue is a deep blackened navy with a green shimmer shift. There are some glitter participles in this shadow (as there are in many of the others) but the glitter does not translate on the eyes – finish is actually a satin-matte. Though this blue is not as rich when applied to the eye as it appears in the swatch, it can be built up to deepen the crease.
Taupe Nacré is more of a rose toned shade than a taupe. It is very beautiful and great on the lid for a wash of color. It has a satin-shimmer finish.
Violent Aubergine is a deep plummy wine. Unlike Parisian blue, this shade retains its richness on the eyes. It has a satin finish.
Cashmere Brown is a medium brown with golden undertones. It has a satin finish.
Beige Rosé is light shimmering cream shade best base, brown bone or inner corner highlight.
The blush, beautifully printed with the YSL logo, is a neutral baby pink which I think is quite nice and versatile as most of the time shades like this tend to lean cool. It might not work on deeper skin tones though.
There are 3 shades of lipsticks, a bright fuchsia, a warm medium nude, and a baby pink, along and with a shimmering gloss. They have a satin sheen finish and wear-time is about average for a traditional non-long wearing lipstick (2-3 hours).
As a YSL collector and lover, I’m very happy to have this palette. It feels very luxurious and the product inside is actually very usable. Although the eyeshadows are more subdued you can get a nice, simple daytime look out of them and/or smoke things out for the evening. Throw on the nude lip and blush and you’re good to go.
Have you seen the Devoted to YSL Palette in the Duty Free?
On an unrelated note, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY BAHAMAS!!!
