Color Me Fall (Autumn) Makeup Makeover

Fall Makeup Colors - Color Me Fall (Autumn) Makeup Makeover

Today is officially the first day of Fall (Autumn). Woohoo! Time to break out my Fall Makeup! Side note, I use the term “Fall” more often than “Autumn”. The other day I contemplated why I do this. The Bahamas is a former English colony and we use British English for the most part. However, being so close to the United States, there are unavoidable cultural and social influences. Additionally, I did undertake some schooling in the U.S.  This dichotomy is reflected in my schizophrenic spelling and grammar. Incidentally, in today’s post, I am consciously spelling color without the “u” but favourites with the vowel in tact. 🙂

That being said, I think the real reason I say “Fall” instead of “Autumn” is due to the fact that I was living in the United States the first time I experienced this particular season and from then on, that’s what I called it, lol. There are no real seasons in The Bahamas – for the most part, we refer to “Summer” and “Winter”, and occasionally Spring. Of course, we are all conscious of the term Autumn (and were taught the terminology in primary school) but, truthfully, September is synonymous with hurricanes rather than falling leaves. Tangent over. Back the the point.

This past weekend I spent some time organizing my makeup, clearing out my Summer staples to make room for the Fall makeup colors I had packed away. By “packed away” I mean in the two small drawers I’ve dedicated for makeup. I don’t have tons of space for makeup storage. There is a small vanity area in my bedroom where it all lives. The makeup I’m currently using sits on top of the vanity while the items I am using less often are organised in the two drawers underneath.

Anyway, I thought it might be fun to share with you guys what I’ve packed away and what Fall/Winter Colors I’ve dusted off.

My Nail Polishes/Lacquers/Varnishes live in a small rack that I’ve affixed to the wall in my “makeup area”. I switched out the Corals, Bright Pinks, Pastels and such in favor of Burgundys, Darker Blues and Purples, Golds, Reds etc

I also cleared out my Summer lippies – again all those Brights are being replaced with Plums, Purples, Darker Mauves, Berries, and Reds (Nudes I wear year round). These are not all the lip products in my collection but a representation. I house the lipsticks I’m currently using in one By Allegory Lipstick holder and one drawer of a 3-drawer Muji Acrylic Organiser. The colors are swatched in no particular order, if you want to know the name of a particular shade let me know in the comment section below. 🙂

Most of my blushes are in some type of palette and I don’t remove them, therefore, no switching out is happening there. But I do own a few in single packaging. I love Plums, Mauves and deeper Reds on the cheeks during this time of year. Again, Nudes for me are year round but some of the more Bronzed ones get packed away. This was fun (who doesn’t love rummaging around in makeup) – I’m definitely a lover of the colours of this season. Of course, we can wear whatever we want whenever we want – just because I’m breaking out the vampy lips doesn’t mean I might not reach for a pink occasionally. Do you guys tend to switch out your makeup according to the seasons? What are some of your favourite Fall makeup colors?

Ugh I love that MAC lipstick, but I’d probably find myself wearing the NYX one more. I feel like its so hard to transition to fall in tropical climates like ours!

Right? Sometimes I feel weird rocking vampy lips when its 90 degrees F outside, but I can’t help myself, I enjoy these types of colors so much! The NYX one in Power reminds me a little of one of the new NARS Audacious lipsticks (Dominique). Thanks for visiting Jenn! Did your friend come back? lol. 😀

Sometimes I feel like my face is gonna melt off, and then I realize it’s gonna rain at 3pm anyway and drop the temp! So I’m just gonna go for it! && No he didn’t come back! ): He ran off after one of our lovely thunderstorms.

I am such a non-conformist I wear whatever color no matter what the year! I will wear black nail polish in the summer, and pink lipstick in the winter. haha!!!

Hehe. Do you girl. I’m definitely for dark nail polish year round. 🙂

  1. I guess I do it subconsciously. I never really intend to change make-up colors but it just kind of happens, if that makes sense 🙂

Makes totally sense. This is actually the first year I’ve consciously switched out products – when it comes to makeup anyway. 🙂

  2. I looooove autumn/fall, whatever we want to call it 😉 All those nail polishes, beautiful… And… I need the name of that blush in the last picture… Is a Marc Jacobs, isn’t it? I love that make up line, I need to write a post about it 😉 xx
