As a Giorgio Armani Makeup novice, a couple of months back, I decided to take advantage of Sephora promotion for a set of three Armani Makeup Minis with purchase. You may have seen me post it on Instagram. Here are my thoughts/quick reviews on the products included in the set: the Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer in #2 Shim Beige, Lip Maestro in #400 The Red, and the Black Ecstasy Mascara in Black.
Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer – Shim Beige (2)
Armani says that this versatile product can be used as an eye shadow base, blush, or bronzer as well as makeup base or mixed in with foundation “to bring a radiant, polished, and sculpted look to your complexion”. It is a sheer, lightweight, liquid/cream formulation. How you use it will depend, of course, on which shade you select and your skin tone. There are 17 to choose from ranging from neutrals, to bronzes and pinks/reds. Shim Beige is a golden beige shimmer.
Mixed with foundation, Shim Beige creates a natural dewy look to the skin. However, I prefer it as a highlighter. I’m generally not a fan of liquid or cream highlighters but this imparts a beautiful, luminescent glow to my fair to medium complexion. It’s a little pricey, though, so I’m not sure I’d invest in a full size. This little sample will probably last be forever anyway.
Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro – The Red (400)
Armani says that this is their “first lip stain with a comfortable velvet texture and a radiant finish”, describing it as an “intense, seductive, illuminating color”. A gel formulation, the Lip Maestros promise to instantly plump for radiant lips while being both non-sticky and hydrating.
The Lip Maestro in 400 is a vibrant, classic red. What really impressed me was how true to color it is on the lips. My own lips have a mauve tone to them which tends to affect the final color of many lip products. Not so with this formula. This is in keeping with Armani’s claim that because the product has no underlying white “base”, color stays more true. It is also very comfortable, characterized by a velvet, satin finish on the lips. The one flaw is that it doesn’t last as well as one would hope for a product referred to as a stain. Drinking and light nibbling is O.K. but after a heavy meal, it’s gone.
Giorgio Armani Black Ecstasy Mascara
Armani says that the “cylindrical and multi-directional brush [of the Black Ecstasy Mascara] captures and coats every lash with 4 patented multi-effect waxes for quick application, volume, length and curl. The formula features an exclusive color boosting polymer for the most intense black.”
The formula is non-clumpy and feels very smooth when being applied on the lashes. Rather than high-drama, it gives a more natural look, adding moderate length (but not much volume) while being plenty black.
If you’re interested in trying any of these Armani Makeup Minis yourself, and you are able to shop at Sephora online (and are at VIB level), the perk may still be available. The code is VIBTRIO.
Have you ever tried any of Armani’s Makeup? Do you have any recommendations for me?
