As the title clearly states, my July Favorites focuses heavily on base products. Approaching the height of Summer, I’ve been all about creating a natural looking yet fuller coverage canvas. These products have helped me achieve that:
*NARS All Day Luminous Foundation (Full Review): I think it’s official. I am in love with this foundation and it has tied my all time favorite, HG Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet. It has a divine, skin-like satin finish that is deceptively light weight yet spectacularly long wearing. Works so well with my combo-oily skin.
*Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: I haven’t quite found an HG primer, but this one from Hourglass comes pretty close. It’s very light-weight, non-silicone feeling, does a decent job of smoothing the complexion, helps my foundation last much longer and is mildly mattifying. The only thing it falls a little short on is dealing with pores. It’s just so pricey. The travel size featured here retails for $18.00 USD. Eventually, I’ll have to come to terms with purchasing the full size.
YSL Les Sahariennes Healthy Balm Bronzer in Epice (Full Review): My first foray into cream bronzers was a complete success with this beauty! It melts in, creating a natural, seamless and skin-like bronze. The Healthy Balms are limited edition but still available so I’m contemplating a back-up.
Dior Diorskin Nude Tan Powder (Bronzer) in Amber: I’m sorry to say the original Nude Powders were discontinued. However, they were replaced with the Diorskin Nude Air Tan Powders which, from what I hear, are essentially the same. Amber is a long lasting matte bronzer that creates a beautiful, natural rosy tan on my light to medium complexion.
July Favorites – Social Media (Bloggers):
Beautylymin: A Dublin gal after my own heart who is a lover of both budget and high end products. Love her beauty reviews and her approach. She also suffers from Chronic Lyme Disease, which makes her positive energy even that more impressive. We also share somewhat of an island connection! Raise you hands for Trini men. 🙂
Rachel Shuchat Makeup: Rachel is freelance makeup artist and a stay at home mom based in Toronto. She does reviews of beauty products but where her blog really shines is in her wonderfully detailed, super-easy and relatable makeup looks and tutorials. I’ve loved discovering her blog over this past month or so.
Stash Matters: Another lovely Canadian (also based in Toronto), who started her blog as a makeup junkie embarking on a No-Buy for 2015. In her words, blogging is her “outlet to explore the trials and tribulations of going cold turkey from shopping”. She is braver than me, let me tell you. What I think is truly a testament to her talent is her ability to produce creative posts talking about beauty products (and other things), without necessarily breaking the bank.
