In addition to the lovely items from the Kiko Cosmetics Generation Next collection that I received in my beauty swap, Gyudy also included some bits from Kiko’s regular line. Aren’t I a lucky girl? I’ve had a chance to try everything out at least once. Here are my first impressions…
Kiko Cosmetics Water Eyeshadow – Emerald Green 212
The water eyeshadows, as the name suggests, are dual wet and dry shadows which Kiko claims are a “mixture of groundbreaking spherical powders for an outstanding color effect, bringing together extreme coverage, pure luminosity and long-lasting wear”. They promise a soft, creamy texture, light-wear and easy blendablity.
Emerald Green is a multi-dimensional green-blue teal that is simply stunning. I featured it in an eye look on Instagram yesterday. Pop this on the entire lid and blend out with a soft, matte black and you’re set. The swatch shown is the product dry and is plenty intense but if you choose to use it wet then you can definitely increase the intensity several notches. Wear time is 8+ hours as promised with no creasing or fading. I also love the shape and the wave pattern which makes the product look like some sort of jewel.
Kiko Cosmetics Smart Lipstick – Candy Rose 903
Described as “dense and nourishing” with a silky and smooth-gliding formula, the Kiko Smart lipsticks promise comfortable and effortless application adjustable colour and long-lasting coverage. They are offered in 3 different finishes: full, satin and pearl.
Candy Rose is a sheer, neutral pink rose that is not as opaque as I expected, but definitely buildable (hence the adjustable coverage). The texture of the lipstick is emollient and as a result, I wouldn’t exactly characterize it as “long-wearing”. But it is lovely, super comfortable formula. I’m not sure what the finish on this one is meant to be as the packaging doesn’t seem to say. But I’m guessing, by the sheerness, that it’s a pearl. The smart lipsticks are reminiscent of MAC, with their subtle vanilla fragrance.
Kiko Cosmetics Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow – Burgundy 37
Although I’m not generally a cream product kind of girl, I do love me a good eye shadow stick. With Kiko’s promise of a creamy, extremely blendable formula that is vibrant in color, water-resistant, and long-lasting, I was very excited to say the least. You know how much I love my Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. They also claim that once set, the color remains uniform and radiant for up to 8 hours, without streaking or smudging.
Isn’t Burgundy frigging fantastic? In the “eye look” featured above I blended the shadow stick using my finger (no brushes) – you can see how the red tones in the burgundy shift to more brown tones as the product is sheered out. I didn’t use anything else besides a coat of mascara. On the lower lash line, the shadow stick did skip a bit, as apparent from the photo, but this could be rectified by blending out with a brush. Overall, I think Burgundy is fabulous for a one shadow look and it’s definitely one of my favorite products of the bunch.
Kiko Cosmetics Smart Lip Pencils – Coral 702 and Fuchsia 708
The Smart Lip Pencil is a basic, wooden liner that Kiko says offers “an intense, high-coverage line that adheres perfectly to the lips from the first application with a no-transfer, smudge-proof hold.”
When I first opened these I was immediately reminded of the two MAC lip pencils I recently hauled in Heroine and Fruit Cocktail. The Kiko shades, Coral (left) and Fuchsia (right), aren’t definitely different, but have a similar spirit. 🙂 And Gyudy sent my package before that haul would have be posted. The girl definitely knows me and my taste. These affordable pencils are surprisingly creamy and comfortable on the lips.
I feel like I’m making some headway in testing out the wonderful products I received in my swap with Gyudy and could not be having more fun doing it! I think, I’m definitely developing a true love for the Kiko Milano brand. Who’s with me?
