When I first set eyes on this Holiday Set, the heavens parted and the angels sang. It was approximately two years ago when I first heard someone speak of the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. The moment is still clear in my mind. It was Emily of Lisette’s Beauté and the way she spoke of these cream shadow sticks (and still does), could sway even the strongest of us to run to the store (or computer) and plop down the whopping $28.00 these cost a pop. Thankfully, for me, Laura Mercier isn’t available at home, so I’d have to go the extra mile of ordering online and paying duty or waiting until I went shopping abroad. Honestly though, I’m surprised I didn’t own these sooner.
There are two Limited Edition Holiday Sets for 2014 (that I know of) which feature smaller versions of the Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks. The Mini Caviar Stick Eye Colour Quartet available at Sephora which contains four sticks (Rosegold, Moonlight, Amethyst, Cocoa) and retails for $38.00 USD and the Mini Caviar Stick Eye Colour Collection, available on the Laura Mercier website, Neiman Marcus, or Saks, which is a set of six sticks (Rosegold, Amethyst, Moonlight, Copper, Khaki, Cocoa) which retails for $55.00 USD. I almost purchased the latter, but at the end of the day, the two extra colours weren’t that appealing to me. I already own something similiar to Copper and was on the fence about Khaki. Anyway, the ones I really wanted were Amethyst and Cocoa which are featured in both sets. 🙂
Apparently the Caviar Sticks were inspired by Laura Mercier’s cult classic Caviar Eye Liner. They promise “endless options for a flawless smokey eye” in a blendable, creamy long-wearing, transfer-proof, and crease-resistant formula.
Cocoa – chocolate brown bronze pearl
Amethyst – lavender shimmer
Rosegold – rosy gold shimmer
Moonlight – metallic champagne beige
Don’t they sparkle and shine so pretty? Lol. These are creamy to boot and blend like a dream. It was love at first swatch when these glided effortlessly against the skin. If you’re looking for major pigment, you won’t find that here. The point, afterall, is to create a smokey look. I’ve used all so far and they’ve impressed me. While they’re great for a base, you know what I like them ever better for? You can skip the liner/powder and smoke this out on your lower lash line and it stays put – or you can go the extra step and add a powder shadow, making the look even more intense. I’m so happy I finally picked these up!
