MAC Haul 2014: The “I lost my mind” Edition (New Collections)

MAC Haul 2014 1

This was meant to be Part 3 of my Birthday Beauty Haul. I had received several items from MAC as gifts and was planning to maybe pick up one or two additional items. However, when I got the call that “A Novel Romance” had finally landed in Nassau…I went straight to the store…and checked my brain at the door, apparently. Given the obscene amount of items I’m featuring today, a more appropriate title for this post is “MAC Haul 2014″…as this is the most shopping I’ve done at the MAC store all year.

MAC Haul 2014 - Lipsticks

I do apologise for the fact that some of these items are no longer available. If any of the limited edition items are online, I will make note of it.  I’ve not tried all of the products, but where I have, I’ll offer some brief thoughts. Also, I realise that the first photo shows the MAC Brush Cleanser which isn’t featured separately below…I lost my shot of it somehow. Anyway, it’s just O.K. in terms of how well it cleans my makeup brushes. Now let’s start with the Limited Edition Collections.

MAC “A Novel Romance”

Of all the more recent collections, this was the one I was most drawn to – not that I have a thing for cheesy romance novels or anything, but the colour palette spoke to me. Unfortunately by the time I got to the store (3 hours after the items hit the shelves), some of the lip products I wanted were sold out. Not that that stopped me from shopping or anything…

Lipstick – A Novel Romance (Light Cool Dusty Pink/Cremesheen)

Lip Glass – Wanting More (Washed-Out Lavender) (Still available on MAC U.S. site and MAC U.K. site)

Blush – Fun Ending (Soft Neutral Peach/Satin)

This is an extremely light colour and best suited for fair to light skin tones. It’s described as being cool, but comes across warm on the cheeks (in my experience).

Fluidline Eye Pencil – Water Willow (Deep Khaki Green) (Still available on MAC U.S. site and MAC U.K. site)

I’ve only swatched this but I had to note how creamy it is. Also, the colour is very dynamic and unique. Thought it would be perfect for Fall/Autumn!

Eye Shadow Quad – A Passionate Quest (Still available on MAC U.S. site and MAC U.K. site)

My boyfriend picked this one out! 🙂

  • The Wrong Man – (Light Cool Dusty Pink/Satin)
  • Serenade – (Mid-tone Orchid Pink with Blue Duochrome Pearl/Veluxe Pearl)
  • Brazenly Rich – (Eggplant/Veluxe Pearl)
  • Stay Sultry – (Deep Violet/Satin)

MAC “Artificially Wild”

Lipstick – Shitaki – (Deep Brown/Glaze) (Still available on MAC U.K. site)

This was part of my gifts, not a colour I would have chosen but it is surprisingly flattering. Because it is a glaze, it leaves just a hint of that brown and a healthy shine.

Blush – Next to Skin (Soft Beige/Matte) (Still available on MAC U.S. site and MAC U.K. site)

You can barely see it in the swatch and I haven’t tried it yet but I thought this would be a great contour shade for the cooler months when my skin is paler. It reminds me of my Ilamasqua cream pigment in Hollow which due to is grey-beige base is fantastic for creating “realistic” shadows on the face.

MAC Rihanna Collection

Lipstick – Rihanna Viva Glam 2 (Warm Mauvey Silver/Frost) (Available on U.S. and U.K. sites)

O.K., I know what you’re thinking…what the…heck! I don’t know, something about this colour drew me in like an insect to the light. I tried it on as well. Definitely different, it adds a metallic sheen to the lips that is somehow spectacular. I may pick up the gloss as well.

MAC Lipstick - Rihanna Glam 2

Permanent Collection

Lipstick – Diva (Intense Reddish Burgandy/Matte)

After hearing so many people talk about how this is a must have for this time of year, I couldn’t help myself, especially considering that some of the more popular lipsticks like this and Heroine are not regularly stocked at our MAC store. It’s a Matte, but the formula feels quite creamy.

Mineralized Eye Shadow Duo – Spiced Metal (Pale Pink/Metal Bronze)

The formula of the Mineralized Eye Shadows is simply stunning. I wanted to pick up more of these but just couldn’t justify the spend. If you’re thinking about it, I say go for it. The intense pigment and shimmer does come across on the eyes and I just wish I could have captured it better in the swatches.

Eye Shader Brush 239

This was on my wish list. It’s great for packing on pigment as well as more delicate shadows.

Whew! I want to be able to say I’m done with the shopping for a while, BUT, I have a trip planned to the U.S. and I’m not going to pretend I won’t shop. After that, though, I think I need to take things easy until the holidays. Did you guys pick up anything from the recent MAC Collections or the permanent line?

    1. Thank you, Silke. I definitely got carried away. Completely understand (obviously) how MAC can get addicting. 🙂 I’ll probably feature some of the lipsticks at some point. I was happy to see that much of the products are still available on the U.K. site! xx

  3. Wow, that is one big-ass haul! The 239 is one of MAC’s absolute must-have brushes imo!

    1. I’ve never tried the MAC brow gel…would love to hear your thoughts – have you tried the Anatasia Brow Pomade? Wonder how it compares.

    1. Isn’t Diva beautiful? So going to rock it all Fall! Thanks for stopping by Eleanor. 🙂

  7. AMAZING goodies! Diva is such a gorgeous shade & I love the look of the eyeshadow quad 🙂

    1. I agree, Diva is a must have! xo

  8. Wow – that is the most amazing haul. I want ALL of those things lol – I have followed although I strongly suspect that it will be bad for my bank account x

    1. Aww, Thanks Julie! I’m so flattered! There are so many people I follow that are bad for my bank account, lol. After my trip to the U.S. I’m gonna have to try to calm down until the holidays for sure! 🙂

  9. Love your picks! The 239 is the best flat brush in the world. Was looking at that Fluidline pencil yesterday, is so, so beautiful! Diva looks so beautiful, I wish I wore reds more! 😉 xx

    Gyudy’s Notes Of Beauty

    1. Thanks, lovely! I’m loving the fluid line! I am thinking of going back for more (slaps hand). It’s my first experience with this formula. BTW, I think you could totally rock red! Can you guys get lipstick queen there? They make a formula of sheer lipsticks and I think the reds would totally suit you. 🙂 xx

  10. These are all sooo pretty! Especially some of those lippies.

    1. Thank you sweetie! Still loving Spiced Metal. These Mineralized duos are so impressive!

  11. Such a cool collection name! It’s kind of perfect for me…;) Loving that lipstick colour, it must be perfect for fall, right?

Hahaha I’m laughing so hard I can barely type!!!!! I was like – A new “I Lost My Mind” collection from Mac????

    OMG help

    1. I’ve just stopped laughing, actually…I didn’t even make the connection that that could happen but I totally see it now! I told my boyfriend and he was like…just goes to show how much you guys have beauty on the brain, hehe (he was sweet about it). This is my new favorite comment ever! xx

  12. Sometime a big ol’ haul is totally in order. The Rihanna Viva Glam II lipstick looks like a really unusual color! P.S. I’m loving the 239 brush I picked up a few weeks ago.

    1. Right? The items were purchased during my Birthday Month so I feel totally justified, hehe. Thanks for stopping by, Nenta! P.S. I’m loving the 239 as well!

  13. WOW you really went for it a MAC! Love it! I cannot believe that the 90’s brown lipstick shades are back, as well as that bronzy shade… I never would’ve thought it haha! The shade of that lipglass is so pretty. I love the way they smell, is that weird?? I’ve always felt they were a little heavy and sticky, though.

    1. No, it’s not weird – I love the way they smell as well! 🙂 I actually haven’t even tried the lip gloss on yet (beauty junkie problems) but I have the lipstick in Shitaki on today and I have to say – it looks good, so much better than I initially thought – and it pairs well with purples and plums. 🙂
