From the recent Birthday haul, let’s take a closer look at this lovely MAC Look in A Box Pretty Natural Lips Kit that I was lucky enough to receive as a gift…
MAC says: From modern eyes to expertly defined lips, this stylish collection of looks brings bold intensity or simply highlights your natural beauty, in beloved hues to complement your skin tone. Each comes with its own face chart, guiding you through your look for effortless application. Pretty Natural is “A Look in a Box kit featuring a monochromatic trio of Lipstick, Lipglass and Lip Pencil to create a statement lip in modern neutrals”.
The kit contains:
One (1) Lipstick in the shade Pretty Natural
One (1) Lipglass in the shade Feeling Fine
Pretty Natural is meant to be an amplified cream finish lipstick that is a medium, warm pinky-beige nude. I believe it is exclusive to the kit. It has a satin-like finish with opaque coverage and a creamy texture that applied smoothly but can tend to settle into fine lines if built up too much. It wore for 3-4 hours, (without eating) was comfortable on the lips and non-drying.
Feeling Fine, previously released as a limited edition shade, is a pinky-beige shimmer with a sheer base. Worn on it’s own, it doesn’t add much color but this makes it versatile as it can be paired with a wide range of lip bases. The shimmer is quite stunning and like most lip glasses it is quite sticky, lasting on average somewhere between 4-5 hours (without eating).
Finally, we have the lip pencil in Subculture which is available as part of MAC’s permanent line. It’s a warm, pinky-peach-brown that has slightly dryer consistency and finish. I can see why this shade is so popular as for many it could be a “my lips but better” shade that makes a great base for many lipsticks.

I quite like the result and if you think you’ll get good use out of all of the products included, the kit is a great deal retailing at MAC U.S. for $29.50 USD with a value of $48.50. (In the U.K. the kit is sold for £29.00 and in Canada it is sold for $35.50).
