MAC Objects of Affection Pigments: Pink, Rose & Glitter

UPDATE (8th December, 2014): The MAC Store, Downtown, Nassau, Bahamas is now carrying the Holiday Collections (Heirloom Collection/Objects of Affection). They’ve been in there for about a week, apologies for the delay in updating!

If there is one thing to check out from the 2014 MAC Holiday Collection, I humbly suggest the MAC Objects of Affection Pigments. Even if you aren’t generally a fan of MAC Cosmetics or its numerous releases, these lovely little sets are worth at least a bit of a swatch.

If you visit me on Instagram, you may have seen me haul this set, along with a few other items I’ll be reviewing in coming weeks.

I didn’t own any of the MAC pigments before this purchase. I’d always wanted to, but I found them a bit overwhelming. Also for the price, I knew I would never go through an entire one. When the travel-sized versions (“Sized to Go”) were released, I had every intention of adding a few to my collection but just never got around to it. So when I saw the Object of Affection Pigments, I knew I’d have get at least one.

First off, they are a great value. These are the same size as the “Sized To Go” versions which retail for $10.00 USD each. Second, the box is so cute and reusable. The plastic insert which holds the pigments can easily be removed and you can use the box to store whatever. 🙂

In deciding between the different colour collections, it was a non-contest really, these beauties had me at “Hello”:

The MAC Pink + Rose Pigments + Glitter Objects of Affection set retails for $35.00/£26.00 and includes four pigments and one glitter. As of the date of this post, the set (along with a few others) is still available on the U.S. MAC website – though it seems to be sold out on the U.K. site. I purchased mine in store while in the U.S. As far as I know, the holiday collections haven’t launched in The Bahamas but I will update this post when and if it does.

I’d always wanted the Rose and Tan pigments – and the other colours, as well as the glitter are stunning. Whisper Pink and Reigning Riches are Limited Edition, while the others are Permanent:

Whisper Pink (soft beige pink with pearl):

Tan (muted pinky brown bronze):

Rose (rose with copper sparkle):

Reigning Riches (soft copper glitter):

Heritage Rouge (dirty brown plum):

I’ve swatched the pigments in different light to try to capture how they would look in those different lighting situations.

While the pigmentation of Whisper Pink may leave something to be desired, I am extremely excited to create a few holiday looks using these pigments! Have you guys purchased anything from the MAC Holiday Collections or are you planning to?

      Isn’t it stunning? 🙂

  3. While I really can’t do pigments (I am so clumsy they are doomed to produce a disaster or two), I love mini sets and this box is adorable!

Hehe. That’s always how it goes, doesn’t it? I wasn’t thinking of the Holiday Collection at all until I saw the pigments. 🙂 Let me know what you decide, Laura. xo

  5. Oh my gosh these are amazing.
Although not such a fan of the particularly sparkly sparse one on the second right but the rest look incredible.
I wonder if they are coming out with these in Australia (and how ridiculously overpriced they will!)
    love you
(Yep look at me getting crazy and using the code you taught me!) xo

Hehe. I feel so proud. 🙂 And I so feel for you guys in Australia with the high prices. Though, our drugstore prices are pretty high compared to the U.S. as well, the higher end stuff is about the same. :/ love you too sweetie! xo

  6. Rose is one of my fave Mac pigments and I wore it all over last years Christmas season.

They are a great way to own the pigments cause otherwise, who’s gonna go through whole one, really? I haven’t played with them yet but used the Lorac Lustres today. 🙂 xo

  8. Every single colour is GORGEOUS! Even though Whisper Pink is not super pigmented it is still a beautiful highlight shade. I saw this in store but your blog post really does it justice 🙂
