Maple Holistics is a brand that carries a natural, holistic range of skincare, bath, and hair care products (read more about the company on their website). A few months ago, I was kindly sent a few of their products to try. However, due to pregnancy and breastfeeding baby, I opted not to use the Maple Holistics Vitamin C Anti Aging Serum as it contains retinyl palmitate (Vitamin A). This is a great ingredient in skincare (in my opinion) but it’s just one that I’d chosen to avoid due to potential side effects of excess Vitamin A when nursing/pregnant. Anyway, I decided to pass it along to my mom (who’s always happy to test out new skincare). This review will be based on her thoughts on the product after using it for about two months.
Their Vitamin C Anti-Aging Serum is formulated to brighten and tone skin and is very affordable coming in at $11.77 USD. The company says: Vitamin C Facial Serum is an anti-aging premium which takes the traditional concept of topically applying Vitamin C and provides a boost of therapeutic ingredients to maximize effectiveness and sustainability. The superior anti-aging benefits of the serum can help correct the fallacies of aging skin to result in a toned, youthful and healthy face.
Ingredients: Water, vitamin C (sodium ascorbyl phosphate), vegetable glycerine, hyaluronic acid, aloe barbadensis leaf, vitamin E acetate, retinyl palmitate, ferulic acid, algae extract, pullulan xanthan gum, hydroxyethylcellulose, caprylhydroxamic acid, glyceryl caprylate.
It’s great that Vitamin C is the second ingredient (ingredients are listed in order of the largest percentage in the product, from greatest to least) and I really appreciate the inclusion hyaluronic acid which helps keeps skin hydrated as well as anti-oxidants (vitamin E, ferulic acid).
The amber-tinged serum has a thin consistency and packaged in a dark, glass bottle (to help preserve the ingredients, no doubt) and is dispensed with a dropper. There is a hint of fresh-herbal type smell but it shouldn’t be a problem for those that are fragrance sensitive because it’s very subtle.
Mom says: She has been using the serum every morning all over her face before her moisturizer for two months, as mentioned. It’s light weight and sinks quickly into the skin. She’s noticed her skin appears brighter and more even. In fact, I, myself, commented on how vibrant she looked the other day (sans makeup) without really making the connection between her glowing complexion and this product. Mom is approaching 60, so she does use a few other products in her routine, but this is the only new thing she’s added lately.
Based on her experience, the ingredients and the low cost, I think this product is definitely worth a try.
