My First Swap! With Silke (Laura London Blog)

Today, I’m so excited to share with you guys my first swap experience with my dear friend, the lovely Silke of Laura London Blog! She is one of my first blogging buddies and I could not be happier to have done my first swap with her.

We both agreed on a budget and gave each other some general ideas of what we were interested in (in terms of brands) but did not have specific product parameters. Silke is in Belgium/U.K. and I’m in The Bahamas (close to the U.S.) so we basically looked for brands that the other didn’t have easy access to.

Originally, we hadn’t said anything about when we would open our swap boxes but I managed to hold out until Christmas morning. 🙂

Here’s what my package look liked, isn’t it adorable?

And here’s what was inside!
My First Swap - Sleek, Soap and Glory, Bourjois 2

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Peach Club – This a really interesting formula. It’s wet but immediately dries down to a matte finish within a few seconds of application. I haven’t worn it for 24 hours – but it held its full colour until I removed it with makeup remover about 3 hours later. Also, it was not as drying as I expected.

My First Swap - Sleek Storm Palette

Sleek Storm Palette – I first became aware of this palette while reading some blog reviews a few months ago and had commented on how lovely I thought it looked. I’ve never tried anything from Sleek and was thrilled to see this product included. I’ve already used it, of course, and have to say that the quality of the shadows when you consider the price of this palette is truly impressive.

And some swatches:

On the Eyes (I quickly put this together just to give you an idea of the colour payoff):
My First Swap - Sleek Storm Palette Eye Look

Sleek Blush in Rose Gold – Reminds me of NARS Orgasm (I’m sure many have already made that observation). I haven’t worn it yet but I imagine it to be stunning for a look that is suitable year round!

Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer – Gorgeous. Has the look and feel of Too Faced’s Sun Bunny – same sort of Bronzer/Highlight duo. The shimmery pinky-white overspray (over the letters SG) wears off after the first use. One side of the Bronzer is more matte, while the other has a shimmer/sheen to it. This will be perfect for the Summer!

Thank you, Silke, for introducing me to these wonderful products! I think it’s safe to say that my first swap experience was awesome! Have you guys participated in beauty swaps? Please share your experiences below.

  1. Ahh, so glad you guys did a swap! There are some great products in there :). I have been eyeing up that Soap & Glory bronzer for a while now. Have yet to be disappointed by any of their products and when I get to the UK, I should definitely buy this!

I don’t get to try as much Soap & Glory as I’d like but I must agree that everything I have tried from the line, I have enjoyed. If shipping wasn’t so costly – I’d probably use their bath and body products all of the time. 🙂 Let me know if you ever do pick up the Bronzer and what you think! xo

Hey Kimmy! I am very happy to hear you like your new goodies. 😀 I must say that Peach Club looks gorgeous on you! I just had to include a Velvet Rouge when I heard you don’t have acces to Bourjois.. they’re pretty good! I got to get that Sleek eyeshadow palette and blush myself actually, it’s so pretty and while I was swatching it in store I kinda fell in love myself! 😉

Enjoy playing around with them hun! xx
PS. Your picture quality is superb!

Aww, where do I start? Thank you again, for this lovely selection. I have a big, silly grin on my face every time I reach for one of these items. And you comment about the pictures just put a bigger, even sillier grin on my face. 🙂 Hugs. xo

  2. Those Bourjois lipsticks are my everything! Peach Club is such a nice colour, suits you a lot 🙂 x

  3. Hey Kimmy, this sounds like fun! You definitely got some excellent pieces 🙂 I heard that Rose Gold is a good dupe for NARS Orgasm, but since I don’t own either I can’t really tell! The eysahdow palette is amazing as well. Enjoy your goodies!

What fantastic products she picked for you, I’d be over the moon with that box. The Sleek Rose Gold is just beautiful and I tend to use it more than Orgasm! I’m looking forward to getting a tan and popping this on my bronzed face!

Thank you so much for my comment on todays blog post, it means a lot. I know you’ll always be there for me, as I will be there for you xxx

Aww, hun, of course. Even though I can’t visit everyday, I always think of you. Times in life that bring us great pain, are also times when we truly appreciate the love and caring of others. I can only hope that at the very least you feel comforted knowing that your friends and loved ones share in your sorrow. xoxo

  4. I did a Christmas beauty swap too and really enjoyed it! I have the sleek palette as well and I love it, it’s a good way of using blue and green shadows which I don’t use often! x

Yes! You’re so right, I had to pop that fantastic blue on the lower lash line. 🙂

  5. You managed to get some great goodies from Laura. Can’t go wrong with Soap & Glory, Bourjois and Sleek. I want to buy that bronzer myself. Been hearing amazing things about it recently. 🙂 x
