October Beauty Empties Pt. 2 (The Motherload)

I’ll skip the speech this month on how I always have so many beauty empties – the title speaks for itself.

Let’s just get started!

As always, a (Y) is “Yes” I will re-purchase, and (M) is “Maybe” and an (N) is “No”.

October Beauty Empties Pt. 2 - Makeup

MAC Brush Cleanser (M): Honestly, I was not a huge fan of this cleanser. I had to use so much of it to get a single brush clean! However, as it one of the few brush cleansers I have easy access to, I’ll probably end up getting it again at some point.

*Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover (Y): Alyways in rotation, I love this for taking off eye-makeup. It’s quick, easy and non-irritating.

Covergirl Powder Compact (N): The powder itself is decent and not too cakey when touching up during the day. However, the packaging is so filmsy. It broke on me a few months ago and I can’t take it anymore so I’m throwing it out.

Nars Eye Primer (Packet Sample) (M): Its a good eye primer but I don’t see what all the fuss is about.

Lancome Hypnôse Drama Mascara (Y): I’ve never actually had to buy a full size of this but it’s a very lovely mascara.

NYX Glam Aqua Luxe Lip Gloss (M): This is a very sparkly, high shimmer and shine lip gloss that is fun for special occasions. This one’s gone bad.

Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer (Y): I’m a fan of this primer – this is the second deluxe sample I’ve gone through. Right now I’m testing out the Smashbox primer, but I’ll probably pick this one up again.

Sephora Nano Liner Lip Pencil (Y): The Sephora brand lip pencils are very nice, smooth, creamy and affordable. I recommend.

Sephore Eye Pencil (N): I’ve had this eye pencil for a while so I can’t speak for the newer formulation but this pencil made my eyes water badly.

October Beauty Empties Pt. 2 - Skincare

*Kate Somerville Exfolikate Acne (M): This deluxe sized exfoliator was part of the Kate Somerville Blemish Banisher Kit. You can check out my full review of the products here.

Dermalogica Active Moist (Y): A great, light-weight moisturizer for oily to combo skin types especially in the Summer. This was a sample size.

*Ren Skincare Global Day Cream (M): I liked this alright. It was light-weight and non-irritating. I just wish it had SPF.

*Ren Skincare Omega 3 Serum-Oil (Y): A very nice oil that hydrates the skin well without being too heavy.

Ren 3-in-1 Cleansing Water (N): Stung my eyes.

*Ren Active Eye Gel (M): Surprisingly moisturizing for such a light-weight gel.
Full review of Ren Skincare Products here.

*La Roche Posay Effaclar H (Y): A moisturizer designed to help restore skin that is sensitive due to acne treatments. Very good. I cut it open. (Full review)

*Murad Anti-Aging Moisturizer for Blemish Prone Skin (Y): Always in my skincare rotation, especially during the Spring/Summer. Love it and also cut it open to get every last drop! (Full review)

Sephora Fiber Mask in Pomegranate (Y): A little pricey at $6.00 USD a pop but I really love these masks and highly recommend. (Full review)

The Man’s Skincare:

October Beauty Empties Pt. 2 - Skincare (BF)

*Philosophy Miracle Worker Anti-Aging for Blemish Prone Skin (M): Getting a man to use anti-aging anything is a miracle, I may repurchase for that reason alone!

Clinique for Men Face Wash (M): Clinique is another brand we have easy access to so I may repurchase at some point.

Clinique for Men M Protect SPF 21 (M): Ditto.

Biotherm Pure-Fect Face Wash (N): Biotherm is a Canadian brand and there is a retailer her, surprisingly. It was an O.K. face wash but nothing special.

Neutrogena Pore Refining Face Wash (N): Purchased in a pinch, it’s alright, he says. But as soon as we got him a bottle of Kiehls facewash this sat unused. There was a teeny tiny bit left and I got sick of seeing it in the shower so I used the last of it. :/

*Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20 (Y): Always in the man’s rotation. Though he is testing out Kiehls right now. 😀

October Beauty Empties Pt. 2 - Bath and Body
Bath and Body Works Products (Y): These are pretty much the only bath gels and lotions I know. Highly recomment the Peach and Honey Almond scent!

Jergens Age Defying Lotion (Y): Cheap and cheerful this is what I buy at home when my B&BW stash has run out.

*C.O. Bigalow Elixir White Body Wash (Y): My man’s only bath and body products, more or less, are from the Elixir White line. He loves and so do I.

October Beauty Empties Pt. 2 - Hair

*Batiste Dry Shampoo (Dark and Deep Brown) (Y): Already have another, one of my favorite dry shampoos because of the lack of white cast on my dark hair.

DevaCare One Condition (N): Many people love this brand, but I don’t really think that this conditioner (made for curly haired girls) did anything special for my hair.

Hand and Foot Care:

October Beauty Empties Pt. 2 - Hands

IROHA Foot Socks (Y): These things are so nifty! I purchased in ULTA on a whim. They are like sheet masks for your feet. They come as a pair of paper booties, with a plastic outer lining. After a long weekend of running around shopping and in theme parks, these came in handy to soothe my aching muscles!

Bath and Body Works Foaming Hand Soaps (Y): I always try to keep these in stock. The Eucalyptus Mint is a divine, uplifting scent which really sticks around.

Dial Antibacterial or Jergens Hand Soaps (Y): I buy these when I run out of my B&BW stash. 🙂

*Crabtree and Evelyn Lavender Hand Therapy (Y): Really lovely hand creams, worth the splurge. I definitely want to get some of the Holiday Sets. These ornament tins are so cute!

Speaking of Holiday Sets…who likes gift guides/recommendations? I was thinking of doing some but don’t know if they are overdone?

Wow, you have used a lot of samples and products! I love my MAC brush cleaner but I only use it for spot cleaning, rather than deep cleaning. Its an essential for me and my smoky eye love!

I should probably use it for spot cleaning only, otherwise it’s not economical. Thanks for the tip, sweetie! 🙂

  1. I’m going to get some of the Clinique men’s stuff. I’m glad you brought it up.

Thanks, hun. The man is accustomed now to keeping his empties for me. 🙂

  2. Wow you’ve used so many products and samples. I am the worst at finishing up products instead always buying new stuff! I love that Batiste Dark Dry Shampoo as it’s amazing for my brunette locks x

Hiya Alina. I’m compulsive when it comes to finishing skincare – I don’t like to have too many of the same products open, lol. But that same can’t be said about makeup. 🙂

  3. Thanks for including the mens stuff! I am always looking for good stuff for him but he never uses much unless it is really good so I will give them a go! x

You’re welcome, Jasmine and thank you! I highly recommend the Jack Black and Kiehls, if you can find them. 🙂

  4. Wow. Well done you! I’m such a hoarder for makeup and skincare. I’m always buying something new and end up rarely using things up. lol Shameful! 😀

No need to be ashamed, hehe. I’m definitely a hoarder of makeup and skincare as well. I think with skincare, though, I tend to not want too many things open at the same time and I buy mostly smaller sizes (which are used up more quickly) because I like to test them out before committing. xo

  5. All that skincare is calling my name, I saw the photo and my eyes lit up! So many interesting things!
Well, about the Nars primer: I love how fuss free it is to apply! I don’t need color correction on my eyelids so the transparency of it is fine for me… The fact that it takes three seconds to apply makes it irreplaceable for me! 😉 xx

Thank you, Gyudy! I’ve only owned deluxe samples of the NARS primer. I think I’m not as wowed by it because my eyelids are on the drier side. Maybe I need to give it another shot? xo

  6. OMG that’s a lot of empties 😀 Love the little skincare reviews, thanks!

Thanks, hun! Yeah, I have a skincare addition. Love trying out different brands. 🙂
