Hauling time. This past weekend I went downtown to pickup a new cleanser and eye cream and also ended up at the MAC store (it’s across the street, people). I’ve recently run out of my back stock of skincare so I actually needed both. Lately, I’ve been seeing and hearing good things about Clarins so I thought I’d check them out. I walked away with the Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser ($23.00 USD/$19.50 BSD), which I intend to use as my morning cleanser, and the Clarins “Special” Eye Contour Balm ($36.00 USD/$31.50 BSD). Clarins makes two versions of this cream, the regular eye contour cream and the “special” one which the sales associate explained to me is more moisturizing for those with a drier eye area. Although my skin type is combo-oily and slightly dehyrdated (see My Skin Stats if you want to know more about my skin type), my eye area can get quiet dry, so I went with the special balm. Also picked up the Clinque rinse off make-up remover. This was actually a mistake, I went to purchase the Clinique “take the day off”, but was in such a hurry I grabbed this one instead. I’ll let you guys know how I get on with it as well as my new Clarins purchases.
Now onto the makeup. I hauled two blushes, two eye shadows, a lipstick and a lipgloss (All MAC Prices are the same in US/Bahamas). The blushes and eye shadows were actually part of my NYC Haul but I hadn’t had a chance to show them so I thought I would include them here.
I actually don’t own many MAC blushes, earlier in the year I started to build my first MAC blush palette with Springsheen and Gingerly, added Full of Joy, and now these two: Fleur Power, a satin, pinkish-coral, and Breath of Plum, a sheer-tone light plum. By the way guys, I need one more blush to complete the pro palette so I welcome your recommendations.
I haven’t tried Breath of Plum as yet but I am wearing Fleur Power today and really like how it brightens my face. Although it’s a satin, I would say it applies pretty much matte. I did have some challenges blending this out but in all fairness, I was in a hurry and the brush I used was probably too dense.
My MAC pro eye shadow palette was pretty much full, but there were two MUG (Makeup Geek) shadows hanging out in there which I wanted re-home in a small Z Palette. To replace them, I picked up two popular crease/blending colours: Soft Brown, a matte soft peachy brown and Quarry, a matte soft muted plum brown, which I’ve heard is similar to the Mauve colour in the Lorac Pro (original) which I love.
On to lips – the main reason I went into the MAC store. About a month ago I started to think about adding some coral to my collection and really wanted a nice reddish, but not too red, pinky-coral. As fate would have it, I started seeing MAC’s Vegas Volt pop up in conversation with fellow bloggers and on various blog posts. Laura of LauraLondonBlog finally pointed out the inevitable: that I would just have to buy it. Which I did and it was everything I was looking for, an Amplified Creme “full powered” coral. As I was about to check out, the lip glass in Lychee Luxe caught my eye. So of course, I added it for good measure. One swatch of the “pinky-coral with golden shimmer” magic and it couldn’t be help. Plus, it will pair well with the lipstick when one is feeling such a combo.
So that’s it for this MAC Haul. Let me know about those blush recommendations. Also, since I re-homed the two MUG shadows I own, I must ensure that they are not left alone. They need companions – that means 7 more Makeup Geek shadows. What are your favorites. 🙂
