Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer Rose Quartz 530

I’m quite late to the party when it comes to the Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquers but I often have a hard time getting my hands on “drugstore” brands here (especially the newer stuff). So when shopping in ULTA while stateside a few weeks back, I made sure to pick up a few items of interest including this lip gloss/lipstick hybrid.

Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer Rose Quartz

Revlon says: Lip lacquer goes HD with our innovative wax-free gel technology. Get true color clarity, vivid high-impact shine and a bouncy, lightweight feel. Available in 15 high-definition shades.

The Lip Lacquers are packaged in a clear tube featuring a brush style applicator and faux “diamond” detail on the cap.

The shade I choose, Rose Quartz, is an interesting warm, rosy-red with pink-copper shimmer. It also features a metallic finish that, when catching the light, makes the shade quite multidimensional. The lacquer has a thick-ish, tacky texture but applies very smoothly (you don’t feel any grit or glitter particles) leaving behind a high-shine. Wear time is about 3-4 hours without eating. It did not stain the lips.

Rose Quartz is a very pretty shade, but I have to be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of this product. I think it’s the applicator. Brush style applicators are not my favorite. And the formula of the lip lacquer, I think, would be better served with something like a doe foot – making it easier to spread the thick formula.

  1. The color is pretty, but the packaging with the fake “diamond” looks so cheesy!

Hehe. It is kind of. 🙂

  2. For me, the word lacquer in the name is quite offputting. I imagine it to be quite tacky and heavy on the lips. I am also not a mega fan of brush applicators for lip product. The shade, however, is lovely! 🙂 x

Agree with both of your points. The color is so pretty, too bad I’m not a fan of the delivery method. 🙁

  3. I agree with you on the applicator – I much prefer a doe foot. It’s a pity because the colour is beautiful on you! xx

Definitely a bit of a let down. I spied some of the cream shades the other day and they are beautiful as well.

  4. I’m not a huge fan of gloss in general so I’ve stayed away from this. I do agree the shade is really pretty though.

Generally speaking, I’m not a lover of gloss either though I do have them in my collection and purchase from time to time. 🙂

  5. I am not a fan of glosses however it looks really pretty on you! Lovely shade!

    1. Thanks sweetie. 🙂

  6. Hey Kimmy, I really like how this looks on you, but I am really not a gloss girl so I never looked into it! I I don’t mind brush applicators, but I do think doe-foot ones are easier to work with in general!

    1. Yes, doe foot applicators are my preference for sure. 🙂

  7. This is a gorgeous shade! But I agree, the brush-like applicator is really off putting. x

    1. The shade really is lovely. I haven’t worn it all that much to be honest. So annoyed that the applicator isn’t better because I’d probably get much more use out of it.

  8. I gotta admit though the colour is gorgeous, I’m just not a massive gloss fan myself hehehe!

    1. That seems to be the general consensus. Hehe.

  9. Glad I read this. There was a nude-ish color I was looking to get, but I’ll save my money now. Thanks!

    1. Happy to be helpful. I’ve read some reviews where people like these though so it wall depends on preference. 🙂

Judging from the pigmentation and opacity I’m surprised to see it only lasted a few hours and did not stain! I can see how a brush applicator like that would deposit too much product on the lips, though. Gorgeous color nonetheless. Appropriate for Fall, too!

    1. It was strange but apparently I’m not the only one this has happened to (the product only lasting a few hours)…must be something to do with the formula… 🙂

  10. I also like the color. Too bad you don’t like the application.

    1. 🙂 It really is too bad.

  11. I’m actually not a fan of shimmers especially on lip products, but I think the shade is cool for gals who loves shimmery effect. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Kimmy!

    1. You’re welcome sweetie! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out. x

  12. This is such a pigmented gloss and I’m actually wondering if we even have this particular range out in the UK (must check it out). Shame the brush applicator lets this product down, I would imagine it being a bit of a pain to apply if the formal is thick x

It is very pigmented. I’ve heard good things about the creamy finishes in this formula as well. (This one has some shimmer to it, obviously)

  13. Not a big fan of the applicator but the colour is lovely. x

I saw someone review some of the creamier finishes the other day and those look even better!

This actually reminds me of Nars – orgasm lipgloss. Revlon’s might be just a smudge more pink. Very pretty though.

  14. I’m not fan of brush applicators either. The color is stunning though x

I so wish they’d go with a traditional doe foot or something similar!

  15. Huh, it’s so much more pigmented than I would have thought based on the tube! I’ve not heard of or seen this product here yet but I’ll have to see. The faux diamond on the wand is a bit cheesy though lol.

I was surprised how pigmented it was as well. Just can’t get over the brush wand…it’s not practical at all…
