Sephora Burberry Beauty Box Review

It’s finally happened! I’m now the proud owner of my first ever Burberry beauty products! Made possible – or enabled, rather, by the fact that Sephora now carries the brand and is offering an exclusive Burberry Beauty Box!

Burberry Beauty Box Review

Sephora says: This runway-inspired Beauty Box features a trio of favorites to create the signature ‘Burberry Glow’ look. It features essential Burberry makeup essentials in travel sizes, including a fluid base, contouring powder, lip color, and a mini kabuki brush.

The kit includes:

  • Burberry Fresh Glow Fluid Base in Nude Radiance No. 01
  • Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Military Red No. 109
  • Burberry Light Glow Contouring Powder Face & Eyes in Earthy Blush No. 07
  • A Mini Kabuki Brush

First off, fair warning – the box is teeny tiny. When it arrived, I was quite surprised. But, its size did not diminish my excitement for what was inside.

Burberry Kisses Lipstick in Military Red

Burberry Kisses are described as hydrating, weightless lipsticks that offer customizable and buidable color. This formula of satin-finish pigments and shiny polymers promises luminous brilliance and is infused with Burberry’s signature blend of rosehip, tea, and lavender. Free of fragrance and lanolin.

Military Red is a warm, solid red that I think would be flattering on many skin tones. And the formula really is something special. First off, the pigmentation is perfect  – rich and saturated. Second, it applies like a dream, filling in the lines and crevices to make lips look amazing.  Finally, while the silicone in the formula means a smooth, even wear – the finish is a velvety satin matte that isn’t too shiny. Love it!

A full size Kisses lipstick is 0.11 oz and retails for $33.00 USD. The mini size included in the kit is 0.035 oz, putting it’s “value” at about $11.00 USD.

Burberry Earthy Light Glow Natural Blush

Described as a “blendable, lightweight powder blush that enhances the cheeks” and “instantly boosts the complexion with a subtle, heathy-looking radiance”, this oh-so-popular product is said to be a favorite of Burberry Makeup artists for the “hollow of the cheeks to gently slim the face and across the eyelids…to sculpt”. Packaged in the standard sized Burberry eye shadow compact, this smaller size is every bit as luxurious as its big sister.

I understand now. The obsession with this blush, that is. It is a fantastic neutral, light/medium brown with taupe tones that has an incredibly natural finish and a soft, silky and smooth texture that’s probably one of the most finely milled formulas I’ve ever encountered. As promised, it works perfectly as contour for fair to light/medium skin tones as well as a crease/transition shade for the eyes (I’ve added it to the crease in the demo below, with nothing else on the eyes).

My favorite way to use it is as a contour/blush combo. I apply it to the “hollows” of my cheeks with an angled blush brush, and then sweep and blend the color upward onto the cheek bones and slightly onto the apples. It’s perfection. In fact, it’s all I’ve worn since purchasing (besides testing a card sample of Urban Decay blushes for a few days). For those sensitive to smell, this product is fragranced but (to my nose) it’s not too heavy and I don’t notice it after a while.

The full size is 0.24 oz and retails for $42.00 USD. The size in kit 0.08 oz, making it’s value approximately $14.00 USD.

Burberry Fresh Glow Fluid Base in Nude Radiance

Burberry says that this “whisper-light fluid illuminates the complexion, resulting in an understated and elegant ‘lit-from-within’ Burberry glow”. It claims to be a 55% water-infused primer [that] glides across the skin with incredible ease and hydrates instantly while “mirror-flat intense reflection pearls help to blur minor imperfections for a shimmer-free, youthful luminosity”. Touted as a multi-use base, it can applied to bare skin/under foundation, blended on the eyes or as a highlighter for the face.

Burberry Beauty Box Fresh Glow Fluid Base Nude Radiance

I’ve been using the Fresh Glow mostly as a subtle highlight or mixed in with foundation to create a more luminous finish. As you can see (I hope) from the swatch below, it is not overly shimmery. And although it does not photograph well, trust me when I say that it adds a beautiful glow to the face. Also, because the base is not heavily tinted (i.e. beige, champagne etc), I actually think it would work on a very wide range of skin tones.

The full size is 1 oz and costs $48.00 USD while the size in this kit is .17 oz, putting it’s value at about $8.00 USD.

Final thoughts: I thought that everything in the box was pretty outstanding. While the beauty box is not a “value” in the sense that you don’t really save any money ounce for ounce if you purchase this kit instead of the regular sizes, it is still a very affordable way to try out some of the superstars of the brand. For someone like me, for example, who has never tried anything from Burberry (besides their fragrances) prior to this purchase, it has definitely stimulated by interest in the brand.

The Burberry Beauty Box retails for $32.00 USD and can be found at Sephora. There’s a new 2016 version currently available at Sephora, the 2016 Festive Beauty Box.

I really like these kinds of boxes – even though you may only get mini sizes, it’s the perfect way to try a brand and see if you will like their products. All 3 products look lovely and even though I had no interest in trying Burberry makeup before, I am definitely going to have a look now! 🙂 x

The box really did influence my desire to try more from the brand is positive way. I’m think may eventually pick up one of the eye shadow palettes. 🙂

Does the powder have that super “strong” perfume scent ?!! I purchased last year the beautiful Fresh Glow (Nude radiance) but the smell is almost too overwhelming 💐😣
Lovely box & great post xxx

    1. Kimmy

Thank you! The powder blush does have a fragrance scent but I didn’t find it to be overwhelming and it didn’t stick around. 🙂

Hehe. I had high end envy with Burberry for the longest. So glad I was able to test out the brand at a relatively affordable rate but now I’m in trouble because I want to try more!

I really love the look of that Earthy blush! I think it’s going on my wish list now… thanks! 😉
I’ve never noticed fragrance from my Burberry blush – I’ll have take a sniff when I get home.
What a great way to try out Burberry – really good value too.

    1. Kimmy

Hehe. Thanks, hun. The Earthy Blush is divine! I highly recommend! Personally, I think the fragrance is quite subtle as well but we all have different noses so I thought I’d make note of it. 🙂

I’ll need to check if I can purchase this set when I visit Sephora next week. The two brands that I have been dying to get my hands on are Tom Ford and Burberry so fingers crossed!

I hope you’re able to grab it, Shireen. It’s such a shame they seemed to have sold out online. 🙁

This is such a nice kit. I love getting sample sizes because I end up not using up everything I have anyway. I have a sample of the Burberry lipstick and really like it. Their eyeshadows are also incredible. Need to try more from their beauty line. x

Hm, except for the red lipstick nothing really excites me. That lipstick though…

The formula on the lipstick is pretty stellar. The blush is one of those that looks boring in the pan but is magical on the face. 🙂 I think it would qualify as one of those products for me like that Clinique shadow stick post that you did. xo

  12. Silke Laura

Great that you get to try Burberry now! That Earthy blush has been on my wishlist for quite some time now, I just have to get it for the upcoming Autumn months.

    1. Kimmy

It’s sooo good, Silke. I think you’ll really like it! 🙂

  13. Alina

Hmm I like the idea of trying out something like this from a high end brand because you get to try a few of their mini sized products for one of their full sized products for example. That red lipstick shade look stunning x

    1. Kimmy

I completely agree. And everything in this kit still felt super luxurious, so I’m really happy with it. They should carry it everywhere Burberry is sold!

    1. Kimmy

Definitely have to treat yourself. I’ve already done some more hauling. Opps! xo

  16. Laura/Pink Frenzy (@Pink_Frenzy)

I hope you get to try the products one day. They sometimes do promotions with the Burberry mini lipsticks I think. I saw that some UK bloggers had scored some. 🙂

  17. Jaa

Burberry makeup is so underrated imo. I have never once been disappointed with the quality and performance of their makeup. Everything I tried it was love, including the new Cashmere Concealer. I already have the Fresh Glow from this set but I still need the mini one. LOL. A mini starter kit is awesome. I hope more luxury brands will follow suit!

    1. Kimmy

Me too. It would be great if other high end brands did boxes like this. I’d totally scoop them up!

  18. agapelovedesigns

Even though price per ounce doesnt make it a true savings/value.. I agree with you! Being able to try several smaller size products in a bundle for a decent price is nice! I think Id rather get a kit of deluxe (sample) size products like this to try, rather than pay full price for full size. Especially considering most gals like us beauty bloggers tend to have more makeup than we know what to do with – we dont often need full size! 😉 But anyways, these products do look amazing, especially that lipstick! It looks magical on your lips! Gorgeous color and shine, looks super moisturizing!! ♥

    1. Kimmy

Couldn’t agree more. I just spilled the beans to some friends that I own 70+ lipsticks and you should have seen their faces! Oops! xo
