Sephora Colorful Wink It Felt Liner Review: Baby Blues

The Sephora Collection has been releasing products left and right lately and I’ve been eager to try what they have to offer. (If you missed my review of the Sephora Brow Thickener, check it here). I purchased the Sephora Colorful Wink It Felt Liner because I’d been lusting after some similar products when the slightly more affordable Sephora version caught my eye.

Sephora says: These colorful liners can be applied like a traditional liner or used to create a dramatic look. From the blackest black to pastel perfection, each shade offers the highest concentration of pigment, leaving bold lines that never smudge or fade. The no-fray, felt tip applicator ensures extreme precision. Waterproof.

When I first saw the Sephora Colorful Wink It Felt Liner in Baby Blues, two products immediately came to mind: the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Periwinkle (which retails for $22.00 USD) and the Kat Von D Ink Liner in Nietzsche (which retails for $19.00 USD). I don’t own either of those shades, however, judging from swatches online all three products are very similar in color – essentially, a periwinkle blue.

As far as formula/performance are concerned, I can somewhat compare the Sephora version to the Stila All Day Liner in Black which I have owned (several times) in the past.  First off, (mindful of the difficulty in comparing pigmentation when you’re talking about two different shades), I will say that the color payoff of Sephora’s Baby Blue’s isn’t as good as the Stila version (in black anyway). With the Sephora liner, I needed 2-3 coats to achieve the desired intensity.

Secondly, the felt tip of the Sephora version is slightly stiffer than the Stila. For me, this does not present any difficulties in application but maybe worth noting if you enjoy the flexibility of the Stila brush. Unfortunately, I’ve not tried the Kat Von D Ink Liners. But, as some of you may know, the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (yes, they are two different products) is my Holy Grail all time favorite liquid liner. Nothing I’ve encountered, including this Sephora offering, has compared to it. 🙂

These differences aside, the Sephora Felt Liner in Baby Blues is a very nice (and very fun) product. I love the way the periwinkle pops on the eyes. In the demo below, I’ve paired it with a touch of black liner, just on the outer third of the upper lid and in the lower water line in order to emphasis the blue. Once the Sephora liner sets, it does stay put very, very well. In my experience, a full work day and them some (10+ hours). I’ve not submerged myself in water with it on, but I’ve sweated quite a bit and it hasn’t budged.

If you’re looking to save a couple of bucks, I think the Sephora liners are a great option. Especially in the bright, colorful shades you may not find yourself using as often. When it comes to a staple black, however, I’ll be sticking with KVD and Stila.

The Sephora Colorful Wink It Felt Liners retail for $14.00 USD at Sephora.

  1. I haven’t tried a blue eyeliner yet, I think I’ll have to give brighter coloured eyeliners a go! Want to try a pink one out :D! Love the review Kimmy 🙂

I really like that color and thanks for mentioning the brush is stiffer. For the price and payoff I think I’ll pick one up to try this new type of eyeline.

  2. i have been curious as to whether this is good or not, so thanks for the review!

  3. Love this colour on you – I’ve always envisioned myself rocking a colour like this but I always chicken out. I have a white gel liner that I bought to do a similar look (black liner at the base, then white on top) but I’ve never actually worn it that way! I may have to check out the Sephora version of these, seems like not too much expense to experiment. 🙂

Such a stunning shade of blue! And it looks great with the black liner. 🙂 Sephora really seem to have a great offering of products. For a good price!

  4. I always go for black liners as the colourful one need more confident and I am not ready for that 🙂 It looks cool and different! x

  5. Wow, that color looks intense with your brown eyes!

  6. Wow, this liner looks so good on you. I love this bright blue (:

  7. Oh my goodness, the flash of blue is insanely gorgeous! Fab that it’s long lasting too. I tend to stick to darker/navy shades due to being super pale and having blue eyes…I wish I could pull this shade off!

  8. I’m not too adventurous with my eyeliners. I know I should give it a go but I think I just look odd! This blue is so gorgeous though and looks stunning on you. I like how you have paired it with the black eyeliner too xx

  9. Hi Kimmy,
The best thing I like the most on this eyeliner is that it is waterproof!

I hope they will be on sale soon! LOL. For some reason when it comes to Sephora brand I like to wait it out until they are on sale. ^_^” Baby Blues is truly a beautiful color to add a fun twist to the eye look! You look great, Kimmy!

Hehe. I sometimes do that as well. They’ll probably eventually be on sale, especially the “Summer” shades. 🙂

  11. Oh wow, Kimmy! When I first saw the swatch I was like… no way this would work on anyone! Then I saw your eye look and it totally made sense! I don’t see myself wearing it (because I am a wimp, ha), but I love it on you!

Agreed! I’m trying to get as much wear out of it as possible, given that these are the last few official days of Summer. 🙂
