As I sat down to begin drafting my September Beauty Empties post, I had just finished reading Elle’s most recent empties (Elle Sees), in which she said it would possibly be her last empties. Anyway, she made note that empties posts don’t seem to get the same traction as other types of posts, i.e. aren’t as popular. This got me thinking because I find that they are some of my favorites and seem to be quite popular on youtube – but maybe that doesn’t always translate on a blog? For me, there is something satisfying about using a product completely and just as hauls are attractive because I can “shop” vicariously through someone else, I find empties oddly alluring for that same reason. Also, they are great to get across some mini reviews of products. But then again, I have noticed that empties posts in general (not just mine), don’t get many comments so I get what Elle is saying. I don’t know – tell me what you think?
Back to the trash. As always, a (Y) is “Yes” I will re-purchase, and (M) is “Maybe” and an (N) is “No”.
On that note, here we go again!
MAC Prep and Prime Radiant Rose (Y): I like this one and the Maybelline version equally. I have a Maybelline Dream Lumi open right now, so I probably won’t purchase the MAC for a while.
Julep Nail Polish (Y): I like this brand and have over two dozen of their polishes.
Hard Candy Nail Polish (M): I found this formula got goopy very quickly.
*Rimmel Stay Matte Powder(Y): A go-to, affordable staple that gets the job done!
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness (Y): A wonderful, light-weight base product that covers almost everything.
*L’Oreal Miracle Blur (Y): I liked this primer/pore filler and it does help to blur pores and fine lines to some degree.
*Maybelline Color Tattoo – Barely Branded (Y): I own several of the Color Tattoos and will continue to purchase them. I almost finished the entire thing before it dried out.
Proactiv Solutions System (Y): My boyfriend uses this system from time to time when he is having skin issues and really enjoys it.
*Kate Somerville Blemish Banisher Kit(Y/M): My full review of this system and additional Kate Somerville products can be found here. I think the products I would repurchase are the EradiKate and Hydra Clear Gel.
*Jack Black Double Duty Face Moisturizer (Y): This is probably my boyfriend’s 10th bottle of this stuff, it is his go-to day time moisturizer.
*Neutrogena Make-up Remover Wipes (Y): Always in rotation.
Lise Watier Bio Lift Eye Patch (M): Review, application and demo here.
Origins Plantscription Moisturizer (M): This is a nice day time moisturizer with SPF but not my favorite (reviewed here).
Neutrogena Acne Spot Treatment (M): Even though this has the same active ingredient (benzoyl peroxide) as many other more expensive versions, somehow it doesn’t work as well for me.
Bath and Body:
*C.O. Bigalow White Elixir Hair and Body Wash (Y): I swear I don’t keep recycling these in the same empties bin, we just love it that much! This is how a man should smell. 🙂
Bath and Body Works Body Washes, Lotions and Sprays (Y): I will always re-purchase products from this brand.
Yves Rocher Body Wash in Grapefruit (Y – If I could): This was part of my Canadian Beauty Haul. The smell is lovely and authentic.
*Dove Clear Tone Deordorant (Y): Already re-purchased – I do think this helps lighten underarms slightly over time. Nothing miraculous – but worth the buy to me.
I don’t need to talk about the hand washes, but I want to mention the Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub. These are lovely (all scents) and I used the travel size in Tropical Mango for my hands before at home manicures. The entire Tree Hut line is so affordable as well. 🙂
Hair and Miscellaneous
American Crew Light Hold Texture Lotion (Y): When Bumble & Bumble’s Grooming Cream cannot be found, this is my boyfriend’s other go-to
Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser (Y): For what it is, this sponge and brush cleanser seems super expensive but it really does a great job cleaning makeup applicators and make’s the process so quick and easy!
ELF Makeup Remover Pen (N): I liked the idea of this but I found it kind of awkward. I used it once and the tip is stained and whenever I went to use it again – well the stain for the previous removal would get on the area I was trying to remove!? It made no sense to me.
O.K. that’s it for this month – how’d you guys do emptying out stuff this month?
