#ProjectMakeaDent: Stila In the Light Eyeshadow Palette

When I posted my Project Make a Dent Lipgloss Update, I mentioned that I would consider tackling eyeshadows next. A tall order. For those of you who don’t know what Project Make a Dent is, please feel free to check out my original post. Basically, rather then set myself the sometimes unrealistic goal of finishing a product in its entirety, with #projectmakeadent I basically try to make myself conscience of reaching for products that haven’t been used in a while. My next project: the Stila in the Light Eyeshadow Palette.

Stila In the Light Eyeshadow Palette

Eye shadows are a somewhat difficult makeup item to actually finish. When you are a makeup lover like me, it’s probably fair to say you have quite a few palettes and single shadows. You don’t (usually) need to use much for an eye look, even if you’re using it everyday. So it takes some doing to get through a single shadow, let alone a palette.

The *Stila in the Light eyeshadow palette was one of my first palettes containing more than four shadows. I’ve had it for just under three years. Now, I’ve mentioned this before but as you know that there are these “rules” for makeup expiration (I think eye shadows are two-three years, depending on your source) but I also know plenty of people who keep their makeup for many years without issue. I regular sanitize my products as well. Anyway, despite this, I probably won’t keep this past year end. But before it goes, I want to get some more use out of it as I think it is an absolutely fantastic, neutral palette. As you can see, it has been well loved over the years. Some of the shadows (Kitten and Bubbly) are completely gone and others are on their way out (Bare and Bliss). By the way, the Black in in here (Ebony) is a really good one.

Do you own the Stila in the Light eyeshadow palette? What is your favorite, go-to neutral palette?

I love this palette! I think it gets over-looked because there are so many neutral palettes out there! xx

I agree with you – it was one of the first awesome neutral palettes and will always have my heart. 🙂

Love the look of this palette, but I don’t own it myself. My most used natural palette is Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette xx

I’m still contemplating that one…I don’t know whether I’ll eventually get that or the new semi-sweet palette. What do you think?

I’ve had this palette in my wishlist for ages but never actually bought it, it looks so nice! I haven’t hit pan in an eyeshadow for a long time… And yet I buy more, LOL! 🙂 xx

Story of our lives, right? I think this is a really great palette for anyone but especially someone who doesn’t own that many palettes or eye shadows and is looking for some great neutrals. I used nothing but this the first 6 months I owned it. Never disappoints. 🙂 xo

Wow it has been well loved it seems! Mine is still rather new because I got it from Ulta sale not long ago. Love the palette and color selection. Quality is great, too! 🙂

Agreed, quality is great on this guy. I will miss it when it’s gone but I’m determined to get some good use out of it before that has to happen. 🙂

Wow, you must really love this palette. hehe I find it hard to make a dent on my products because I’m always alternating between them. I’ll probably going to hit pan on my Mac eyeshadows first, as I love them. I tend to throw away mascaras, foundations and other skin products after a certain time, but eyeshadow… I think I’ll keep mine forever. lol They don’t seem to cause any harm when they’re “old”. 🙂 x

Hehe. I’d probably hang on to more of my powder makeup products if I had more space! It helps me not to hoard if I try to get rid of older things when they’ve “expired”. That being said, I’ve never actually thrown out an eye shadow palette…some old singles, yes, and lipsticks and lip glosses…
