The Tom Ford Summer Soleil 2015 Color Collection came and went. For some time now, I’ve been a long-distance admirer of the brand but my ownership has been limited to two of the Tom Ford Boys Mini lipsticks which I purchased at the beginning of the year. Although his makeup seems stunning, the brand is so pricey that I’ve been wary to venture further. Lucky me, I got my chance when I was gifted these two beauties! Thanks Mom! Isn’t the limited edition white and gold packaging is gorgeous. I’m a fan.
Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color in Midnight Sea
Having spied this beauty on several blogs, including the lovely Mostly Sunny, I did lust after it but had no immediate plans to purchase. After all, it retails for a whopping $60.00 USD. My mom had no idea that this product was even on my radar which makes the gift even more special. She’s got good taste!
The Midnight Sea duo features a shimmering bright, blue teal powder shadow and a iridescent deep, browny greyish taupe cream shadow. Separately, they are lovely but together they create a deep, dark sparkling blackened blue that is gorgeous!
The powder part of the duo works best with a cream base, but I find that the cream portion wears well alone or paired with a powder on top. In fact, I’ve worn it solo, and it’s got amazing dimension blending out amazingly and creating the illusion that you’re actually wearing several colors. Wear-time on my lids is about 8 hours before I notice some minor creasing.
Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer in Rose Soleil
The Lip Sheers from the collection, on the other hand, weren’t something that I’d considered. I usually look for a little more pigment with my lip products, especially lipsticks, and with the formula on the sheers promising a “lustrous sheen of color” – I knew they would be, well, sheer.
Rose Soleil is an interesting shade. It’s kind of mauvey with a hint of red and plum and a golden shimmer. In the swatch, it applies a little unevenly but performs much better on the lips.
Being a sheer formula (how many times can I use that description?), Rose Soleil doesn’t last that long, truth be told, but it is very pretty and makes a great topper over a more pigmented shade (think a bright red). That being said, for $50.00 USD – I dunno, I probably wouldn’t purchase another. The packaging sure feels luxurious though. I think it’s one of the heaviest lip stick bullets I own! 🙂
Are you a Tom Ford fan? What products from the brand would you recommend I try?
