Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette Review (and Holiday Collection)

I’m probably the last person on earth to pick up this palette but as much as I love Too Faced Cosmetics, I’ve actually not tried many of their eye shadows.  I’d heard great things about the Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette, so I thought I’d start there.

It was between this and the Natural Eye Palette, but in the end there was just something really appealing about the colours of the Romantic Eye that sold me.

In particular, I was drawn to the shades Honey Moon and Cut the Cake. Also, rather than pick up another neutral, I though this seemed neutral enough with a little something extra.

So far, I’ve used the palette a handful of times and must say I’ve really been enjoying it. The shadows themselves are slightly powdery, kicking up a little when you dip your brush in, but overall, they have decent pigmentation, are fairly creamy and blend well.

The lighter shades are very close to my skin tone and don’t really show up in the swatches, but you can get an idea of the colours anyway.

I created two quick looks for you guys. The first is an easy daytime option. Minimal eyeliner (Stila’s Smudge Stick in Lionfish). I will admit it made me kind of sad that Honey Moon came across more golden than green but it’s still a lovely shade.

Romantic Eye Palette Look 1

Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette Review Eye Look 1

I Do all over the crease as a blending shade; Honey Moon on lids, Ever After in the outer crease to deepen; Soul Mates on the brow bone and inner corner.

The second look is more “evening” appropriate, though I’d still wear it in the daytime, lol. I used Nars Via Veneto as a liner as well as Stila’s Liquid Liner (one of my all time favorite liquid liners in addition to Kat Von D).

I Do in the crease as an all over blending shade; Cut the Cake on the lid; First Date in the outer crease to deepen, and Kiss the Bride on the brow bone.

Too Faced has also released some great Holiday Sets which have me really tempted! In particular, I’m lusting after the Melted Kiss Lip Set which is an an incredible value. For $25.00 USD you get to try out four smaller versions of the melted lipsticks (who ever goes through a whole lipstick anyway). Last I checked, it was sold out on Sephora’s website but the Melted Kisses Holiday Set is still available on the Too Faced website.

I’m also considering the Beauty Wishes Sweet Kisses Set. It’s the packaging, I tell you, so adorable! This kit retails for $34.00 USD.

I’ll probably end up picking up at least one of these. I’m further motivated by the fact that Too Faced is offering Free Shipping with purchase of any brush (use code TEDDYBEAR – Ends: October 28th).

What do you guys think of Too Faced as a brand? Interested in any of the eye shadow palettes or holiday sets? What are your recommendations?

I have many of their palettes and they are sooo beautiful, and they have some of the cutest packaging, only I didn’t get this one for the simple reason that you just can’t buy everything I guess 🙁
But maybe one day in the near future, who knows ^_^

Don’t you wish we could buy everything? I can only imagine the state of my makeup and skincare collection if that were the case, lol. 🙂 xx

  1. Such a lovely palette! I’ve been dying to try the Melted Lipsticks but can only find them online, so been waiting to see if they come to the stores, as I prefer to see the colour properly before buying. x

Don’t you hate when you can’t swatch something? The story of my life. If I didn’t travel to the U.S. so often, I’d hardly get to swatch anything. But I hope you can find the Melted Lipsticks at some point, hun! xx

  2. Hey Kimmy, I really like that second look! I think I’ll skip. The lighter shades will all end up looking the same on me, and I won’t use them too much. Would you believe the ONLY thing from Too Faced I’ve tried is a lip liner? It’s good, but I’ve never really been tempted enough to grab anything else. I think part of this is because I have no access to a counter, though I’d love to try a lipstick from them one day soon 🙂

Thank you, Sunny! I like the second one better myself. I feel the same sometimes, I want to physically see something before I purchase it but we don’t have Too Faced here either so this particular palette I bought unseen beforehand. I’ve heard great things about their glitter eyeshadow primer so I want to try that next. 🙂 xo

  3. I have the same pallet! i love it 🙂

  4. this looks good!

  5. The colors are probably all a bit too light for me, but I do like the looks you’ve created!

Thank you, Melissa! I agree the light shades are very light so it will depend on your skin tone but they work great for me in the brow bone and inner corner (as well as the lid as long I deepen the crease with another colour) 🙂

I love the second look! The purples are so pretty on you. Believe it or not, I do not own ANY Too Faced eye shadows! I love the Melted lipsticks though!

I didn’t either. I had a palette way back when but hadn’t used their shadows in years so this was a new experience for me. 🙂

  6. Love your looks! I have the Natural one and I love it, I wouldn’t probably get this given that I have the other one (and a lot others, ahem) but I know that the quality is so, so great! The Beauty Wishes Sweet Kisses set is calling my name though 😉 xx

I thought of you when I picked this up as I always here you say good things about Too Faced shadows. I’m happy I got this one and wore it again this weekend. 🙂 Let me know if you pick up the Beauty Wishes Sweet Kisses (I may or may not have ordered the Melted Kisses set, lol). xx

  7. Love the looks you created! I was once swatching the available palettes in Boots, but I decided not to take any with me because of some colour choices in the palettes. One of those things right? I love the Holiday kits available! It isn’t eyeshadow, but the Nars Virtual Domination palette is stunning.. would love to get my hands on that one!

The NARS palette has been in my “cart” for weeks. I keep going back and forth on it. It was either that or the Benefit one but I heard that the blushes in that one are put the same as in the original – which is too bad cause it’s such a great price point. Do let me know if you get the NARS on and whether you think it’s worth it! xo
