Top Ten Products Tag (Makeup)

I was tagged by my lovely friend, Gyudy to do the Top Ten Products Tag – Makeup Products, that is. After much deliberation, here are my picks:

Top Ten Products - Beauty Tag

Foundation: Notably absent. I couldn’t choose. Plus, I haven’t re-purchased in a long time as I am testing out so many new ones. Some of my all times favorites are Clinique’s Stay Matte and Kat Von D’s Tattoo Foundations. However, there are a few that have recently stolen my heart….stay tuned.

Powder: Had to go with the Nars Light Reflecting Powder. The loose version is fairy dust. If you want to see pics, I reviewed it as part of my Nars Brand Spotlight Post here.

Top Ten Products - Maybelline Dream LumiConcealer: The Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in Radiant has been a long-time favorite of mine. I use this and the MAC Prep + Prime in Radiant Rose interchangeably.

Top Ten Products - Dior Nude Bronzer in AmberBronzer: Dior’s Diorskin Nude Tan Matte Powder in Amber gives me a very natural sun-kissed warmth to my skin that is not too “glowy” or overdone. I don’t use this to contour, though.

Top Ten Products - Illamasqua KatieBlush: Ilamasqua’s Katie is the blush by which all other blushes are compared. It does something for fair to light skin tones that cannot be explained in words. I often wear it alone, but I find that one can achieve that etheral glow it gives by using it as a topper blush as well.

Top Ten Products - Dior Amber DiamondHighlighter: Again, Dior takes this one. I hate the fact that they discontinued Amber Diamond which is an absolutely stunning, warm highlight that is not too shimmery. It melts into the skin (but one is to be careful, a little goes a long way).

Top Ten Products - Chanel Le VolumeMascara: Chanel Le Volume de Chanel. Reviewed here. Enough said.

Top Ten Produts - Lorac Pro PaletteEye Shadow: I love my MAC, Makeup Geek, Stila, Urban Decay and other shadows. But in terms of all time favourite palette, this goes to the Lorac Pro (1st one). The versatility is amazing.

Top Ten Products - Benefit Gimme BrowBrows: I recently posted my Brow Routine which features Benefit’s Gimme Brow. I think it’s a must for everyone’s collection.

Top Ten Products - Mac Lipstick Hot GossipLipstick: Though I feature MAC’s Hot Gossip here, it’s MAC lipsticks, in general, which win the lipstick competition for several reasons. Of course, I love my Chanel lippies as well as my Maybelline. But MAC is that mid-range brand that offers such a wide range of colours, formulas and is extremely accessible (they have locations almost everywhere).

I tag anyone who wants to do this! Would love to see what your top ten are!

  1. Oh this is a fun tag! Katie is waaay too light for me, which is sad. I know that many love Illamasqua blushes, but my experience with them isn’t all that great, so I kind of gave up on them! Dior Matte Cinnamon is my favorite bronzer of the year not just for the great quality but also the best shade match! I am lucky because bronzers tend to sit well on my skin tone, but with some I have to use a light hand and with others I have to built up. Cinnamon is just right 🙂

I almost got Cinnamon instead of Amber, my skin tone is light to medium so I could have gone with either – Amber requires a little more building and Cinnamon would have meant I had to use a light hand, but both are beautiful! I agree Katie is best for those with fairer to lighter tones – when I am more on the side of medium I find it still works well as a topper (just lightly on the apples). 🙂

  2. Lovely picks! I love Benefit gimme brow too! <3

    Loved this post xx

Aww, MJ. You’re such a sweetheart! I too sometimes long for more people I can talk to in depth about makeup, lol. I’m the only one of my friends who is so obsessed with it. That’s one of many reasons I love this community and the ability to connect with kindred spirits. 🙂 So looking forward to your end of year favourites (though my bank account may not be). xxxKimmy

  4. Sadly I don’t own any of your choices! But they all sound amazing! I have always wanted to try something from Dior. It’s on my “beauty bucket list.” 🙂

Julie, do you have a post of your “beauty bucket list”? That’s something I’d love to read! xxKimmy

  5. Looooooove your picks! I couldn’t wait to see your favourites, and let me say that I totally agree on your decision of leaving out foundation as I always change my favourite in a month’s time 😉 That palette though, I just checked the price on the only online store I found that ships it here (Rose’s Beauty Store) and it’s double the US one… It’s so tempting though, seeing yours so well loved is a clear sign! 😉 xx

Haha, great minds think alike. I couldn’t just pick one (foundation). I absolutely LOVE my Lorac Pro Palette. I thought about cleaning it before taking the photo but I didn’t hehe. If you really are interested in the palette, I just checked Beautybar.com which launched international shipping a few months back and they ship Lorac to Italy. You pay the US price and shipping to Turin is about $17.00 USD. I have a few promo codes as well (though I’m not sure they will work for international orders): FALLCARE14 for $25 off $100 or KIMM9347 for 20% off. I buy alot from Beautbar – thought about writing a post once about the brands that they ship internationally but didn’t want to sound like I was selling something. :/ Anyway, if you are interested, full disclosure, this my link: http://beauty-bar.evyy.net/c/98881/83482/2054?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.beautybar.com%2Fp%2Florac-pro-palette-525419 🙂 xx

  6. I’ve been trying to film this tag myself.. such a hard task ! I absolutely love the look of your picks. Ofcourse, the Gimme Brow is brilliant and I can only dream about the Lorac palette! Katie looks like a blush I don’t quite own shade-wise yet, so I’ll need to pop into a Illamasqua store for that one. 😮 xx

It was pretty tough to choose! Katie is simply breathtaking – and suited for your skin tone, I think. 🙂 Swatch and let me know what you think! Can you guys not get Lorac? xx

      1. It’s hard to get it, we have to order it online or so! 🙂

I LOVE my Lorac Pro Palette 1 also. I use it the most. I have the “replacement” for the Dior Amber Diamond (can’t think of the name right now). I love it, but wonder how it compares to the original? I love my Dream Lumi also. Great picks! I do not have Gimme Brow, but so many people have raved about it I may have to give it a go!

Isn’t the Lorac just great? 🙂 I haven’t tried the replacement for the Dior Amber, but if I ever do, I let you know how it compares. And if you end up with the Gimme Brow, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I hope it works for you. 🙂

  7. Great photos! The Dior bronzer looks lovely.
