U.S. High End Haul (Laura Mercier, Hourglass, Dior, Too Faced)

Considering the fact that I was in the U.S. for a good 4 days, I was rather restrained in my purchases (in terms of number of items, not necessarily cost). However, it was a family trip and while we did shop, it wasn’t the primary agenda item.

If any of you saw my wish list on Instagram a few days ago, you know I had a few pricier items in mind – hence the title – high end haul. Usually, when I travel abroad, I go for brands I cannot get at home. We carry some of the major designer cosmetic brands and some U.S. drugstore brands but not all. I’ll probably go into more detail about what brands are available in The Bahamas in an upcoming Local post. Anyway, I managed to pick up most of the items on my wish list and will be reviewing some of them in the coming weeks: Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks (Holiday Set),  Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette (Limited Edition), Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette, Dior Star Foundation.

The exceptions to those reviews will be the Laura Mercier Body and Bath Holiday Sets and the Beauty Blender Solid. I may talk about them in an empties or favorites, but, mostly likely won’t be featuring them in a separate post. My reason? Well, the Laura Mericer Bath & Body products I’m actually splitting with someone so I won’t be experiencing the whole lot. Speaking of which, the Holiday Sets were a major splurge (so expensive) but I’ve wanted to try her bath/body products for years! Especially the Creme de Pistache. Having used one of the body souffles last night, I can already tell you already, it’s a dangerous situation.!

The Stila liquid liner is one of my all time favs! It was my HG until I discovered the Kat Von D liquid liner which has now replaced it. Both are fantastic though! You’ll love it! I picked up the Smashbox eye shadow primer this past weekend and so far, so good. 🙂 Hope you’re having a lovely Monday, Serene. xx

  2. High end hauls are more fun! 😉 I wouldn’t mind trying out those Laura Mercier products 😉

Hiya, Grace! Hope you had a great weekend! If you’re interested in Laura Mercier but have been hesitant because of the price, I highly recommend the Holiday Sets. They are a better value and you get to try out a range of products. xx

Hehe. That’s how I feel everyday! I tried to stop my a Michael’s when I was state-side to look for those pumpkin molds but we just didn’t have time. :/ I’ll have to scout it out locally. 🙂 xx

  4. Yay you got Star! That LM Caviar Stick set also looks amazing. I have 4 full-sized ones and I love them all. I hope you’ll enjoy your set!

Thank you, Sunny. I’ve used two of the Caviar Sticks so far and it’s love. Still haven’t used the Star besides testing in store that day but plan too soon. Thank you for the recommendation. 🙂 xx

OMG, Melissa. It is delicious! It’s heavenly really and I’m frightened for my wallet as I’m now addicted. :/ 🙂 xx

  7. Such gorgeous picks once again. The Laura Mercier gift sets (one of them is a candle one right?) in particular. I’m currently lusting after things to ‘complete’ my Autumn make up looks rather than picking up random bits. I’m talking about a couple of new foundations, a good hydrating primer, some skincare bits,.. cannot wait to hit London in a few days !

Ooh – What foundations are you thinking about? I’ve been using the It Cosmetics No. 50 Primer as of late because of the dryness I’m experiencing. It’s an anti-aging primer but I like it because it’s hydrating. I don’t think it’s available in the U.K. though, which is unfortunate. The Laura Mercier gift set was the body souffles actually. 🙂

      1. Body Souffles, that would make more sense 😀 Haha! I am thinking of the Nars Sheer Glow and will have a look at a few other foundations. I’m currently trying out a sample of the Smashbox Hydrating primer and I really like it!

Thank you, Karen. It can become dangerous because they are so expensive but I must admit I’m REALLh enjoying them. 🙂 xx
