What I Wore This Week #MOTW: YSL and Ilamasqua

Some of you may recall that one of my goals this Summer is to shop my stash a little more. This week I pulled several items from the collection to bring into rotation. Of those items, there were three products that stood out and pretty much constituted “what I wore this week” or my Makeup of the Week #MOTW: my YSL Saharienne eyeshadow palette, Illamasqua Blusher in Lover and YSL Rouge Volupte in Rose Neillia.

What I Wore Illamasqua Blush Lover

I purchased YSL’s Rouge Volupte in Rose Neillia last Summer (reviewed here). It is a beautiful and bright pinky-coral, that I’ve badly neglected, to be honest. The Rouge Voluptes aren’t the most long-lasting of formulas but they feel so good on the lips!

In keeping with the bold theme, I also pulled out Illamasqua’s Lover – an peachy, apricot matte blush which may look a little scary swatched but it’s easy enough to control the pigment level with a light hand.

My YSL Saharienne Eyeshadow Palette is the version that was released in Limited Edition packaging (Chinese New Year Palette), but is available permanently as part of the regular line. Saharienne is a mix of cool and warm tones, with finishes varying from shadow to shadow although they are all are characterized by some level of shimmer: (clockwise) a warm peachy beige, a cream with hints of gold, a cool, grayish taupe, a warm golden brown and in the centre a dark, neutral brown.

What I Wore YSL Saharienne Couture Palette

When I initially reviewed this palette, I featured a look that was quite dark. However, this week, to compliment bright lips and cheeks, I’ve gone for something a little more neutral using the peachy-beige, golden brown and grey-taupe. Although very subtle, I enjoy this type of look because I can pair it with almost anything. And to change things up from day-to-day, I’ll add a pop of colour to the lower lash line using, for example, my Marc Jacob Highliners.

What have you been wearing this week?

  1. It’s always good to shop your stash, I love changing up the makeup I wear often 🙂

    1. Completely agree! Make an effort to change up one’s makeup (especially when there are ample choices) is always a good thing. I’m about to check out your blue brown duo chrome look right now. 🙂 xo

  2. Beautiful selection! I know what you mean about the Illamasqua blushes being SO pigmented. Just ONE of those pans would last a lifetime for a person, haha! That YSL eye shadow palette looks to be very good neutrals and I actually quite like the layout of the eye shadows inside the palette (normally I like everything very simple and straight lines only!)

    1. Thank you, hun! I only own two Illamasqua blushes but I definitely do think they will last me a lifetime, hehe. I like the layout of the YSL palettes as well. My only small little gripe is that the dividers seperating the shadows are so shallow (about the same height at the pans of shadows themselves) that you can get some mixing of the shades. It’s not a deal breaker or anything, but just a note. 🙂

  3. I’m planning to start doing Shop My Stash posts too, you and another blogger has inspired me and there are so many products that deserve more loving from me. I am in love with that lipstick shade, I have one in shade Fuchsia in Rage and have been looking for another shade to buy.

    1. That’s great Shireen! I’m so happy to hear that and looking forward to the beauties you have stowed away in your collection! xo

  4. It’s so good to shop our stash, it feels almost like buying a new products 🙂 Love that lips colour and the palette is beautiful as well! x

    Mummy’s Beauty Corner

    1. It does almost feel like buying new products! 🙂 xo

  5. That Illamasqua blush shade is just beautiful and perfect for this time of year. I’m currently trying to spend less and I’ve rediscovered loads of beauty gems that I had forgotten about x

    Beauty with charm

    1. I feel like I’m always trying to spend less, lol. But I think its more like I’m always trying to be more practical in my purchases and balancing that with my desire to try new things when it comes to makeup and skincare.

  6. The blusher is really pigmented. I wonder how it look on the cheeks

    1. It’s amazing on the cheeks. On my light to medium skin tone its a warm, healthy peachy apricot which just makes the complexion glow without shimmer (as it’s completely matte). 🙂

  7. I absolutely adore that lip colour! xx

    1. Thank you! Its a lovely shade…but I think it was LE, unfortunately. :/

  8. I really want to try some Ilamasque products. The eye look is gorgeous! xx

    Pink Frenzy

    1. I don’t own much from the brand (especially since they moved out of North America) but what I do own (two blushes and a cream pigment), I definitely love! xo

  9. Stash-shopping is the best! I did a bit of that recently and rediscovered some forgotten gems as well! The blush is NO JOKE! I have tried a YSL Rouge Volupte on but I didn’t like the overly slippery feeling. I prefer Rouge Volupte Shine instead 🙂

    1. Shopping the stash feels wonderful, Sunny. Though I did get a little side-tracked on a recent trip. But it’s all good. I feel you on the YSL Rouge Voluptes – I’ve actually found that some of them have more slip than others. I don’t think I own any of the Shines…gotta get on that! xo

  10. That Illamasqua Lover blush is so pretty! I don’t think I have anything peachy and beautiful like that! I know a local website that sells Illamasqua products. I’ll check to see if they have it in stock! If I buy it, I blame you for enabling. LOL

    1. Haha. I have plenty of people I can blame for enabling – and you just might be one of them, lol. But I love your for it! I wish Illamasqua was more widley available. I hate that the moved out of North America. :/

Great look Kimmy, I really love these kind of posts! That Illamasqua blusher is so stunning. It might complement me more instead of a pink blush to be honest, I get quite rosy and usually keep my base very light. Due to my exams, I keep my make up quite minimal. My Charlotte Tilbury Bronze&Glow has been a favourite recently, and I’m loving Mac Honeylove on top of Charlotte Tilbury Pencil in Pillow Talk!

    1. Thank you, Silke. I’m going to try to do posts like this more often. Though you know me, there will always be some hauls in there along with my usual reviews. I tried to spend some time at the CT counter a few months ago when I actually had the opportunity to see her products in person but I ended up being so rushed. It was sad. :/ Lol. When are your exams finishing? xo

  11. I love the shades in the YSL palette and the lipstick is also stunning. I’m yet to try them but they’re still in my wishlist. Soon, hopefully. 🙂 x

    1. That’s how I feel about the Burberry blushes and eye shadows. Sigh. There is just so much to choose from. What’s a girl to do? Hope you’re enjoying Italy! xo

  12. I’ve been shopping my stash lately too. It’s fun! Sometimes I forget I have some great things tucked away. And that Lover blush is gorgeous! I’ve actually had it on my wishlist for a while. I might have to finally give in.

    1. I think we all forget what gems are lurking in our drawers/storage waiting to be found. Hehe. The blushes are one of the only products I’ve really tried from Illamasqua and they are fantastic! xo
