Forming part of the Yves Saint Laurent Holiday 2015 Kiss and Love Collection, the Rouge Pur Couture Collector Kiss and Love Edition lipsticks are magnificent. Four of the most iconic Yves Saint Laurent shades are included in the limited edition release: Le Rouge, Le Orange, Le Fuchsia and Le Nu. But it was the Sephora exclusive, YSL Black Red, that I was most drawn to.
As far as I know, Black Red is a sold only at Sephora online and is a VIB elusive. So while you find the other shades almost anywhere else YSL is carried (while the collection is still available, of course), that is not the case for this shade.
Both the cap and the bullet of the lipsticks are embossed with lip prints. YSL says: To celebrate this symbol of femininity, Yves Saint Laurent introduces the limited-edition Kiss & Love Collection embossed with red, pink, orange and nude love bites. The formula offers rich, luxurious color and deeply nourishing antioxidant care. Lips are soft, supple and smooth. A simply captivating collector’s item.
You see why I had to have it right? Lol. I’d describe the color as a deep red. It’s not blackened, as the name Black Red might suggest, but it is more of a berry-toned, ox-blood-esque red (it actually shows up deeper in real life that it’s doing in my swatches). When I posted about my other recent Rouge Pur Courture lipstick purchase (Noir Laque), I’d mentioned that the formula on that one was slightly different than the others in my collection. I’m happy to report, however, that the formula of Black Red is more of what I’m used to. In my experience, the Pur Courtures have a little less slip than Rouge Voluptes (which helps them stay in place better), glide on the lips effortlessly, are insanely comfortable, do not migrate and have a fantastic, even dry down. Like the most popular Rouge Voluptes, the Pure Courtures have a fruity fragrance but the scent tends to be much milder to my nose.
I’m truly in love with this shade. The Kiss and Love edition lipsticks retail for $36.00 USD and can be found at Sephora, YSL US, Neiman Marcus, and other retailers (I believe the collection releases in the UK in November).
