01

Scope and who we are

Beautyisles operates this beauty publication and is the controller of personal information collected directly through it. This policy covers our website, newsletter sign-up, contact form and the measurement tools we choose to use.

It does not cover a retailer, social platform or other website you visit from Beautyisles. Those organisations decide how they handle information on their services and publish their own notices.

For a privacy question or request, use our contact form and choose the most relevant subject. Please do not send medical records, payment-card information or other sensitive information.

04

Cookies and analytics

Essential technologies support security, page delivery, forms and your consent choices. Optional analytics tools, including Google Analytics when configured, are held back until consent where required. They can help us understand which pages are useful, how readers move through the site and where performance needs attention.

You can accept, reject or revisit optional categories through our consent controls. Read the Cookie Policy for the practical details.

05

Affiliate links and retailer sites

Commission-earning links contain identifiers used to attribute a visit or purchase to Beautyisles. The retailer or affiliate network may use cookies or similar technology after you click. It may also receive your IP address, device information and the page that referred you, as occurs with ordinary web navigation.

Beautyisles does not receive your full retailer order record or payment-card number. Affiliate reporting may show aggregated or transaction-level information such as an ordered item, time, value and commission without giving us the purchaser’s full identity.

06

Who receives information

We use service providers only where they are needed to operate the publication. Depending on the feature you use, those recipients may include:

  • website hosting, content delivery, backup and security providers;
  • form storage, email delivery and newsletter providers;
  • consent-management and audience-measurement providers;
  • affiliate networks and retailers when you follow their links;
  • professional advisers, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where disclosure is necessary and lawful; and
  • a buyer or successor if the publication is reorganised, sold or transferred, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service providers that process information for us are expected to use it only for the agreed service, protect it and delete or return it when the service ends.

07

International transfers

Beautyisles serves readers across countries, and some providers may process information outside the country where it was collected. Where UK or European transfer rules apply, we use an available lawful safeguard such as an adequacy decision, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or approved standard contractual clauses, together with supplementary protections where needed.

You can ask for more information about the safeguard used for a particular transfer through our contact form.

08

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for the period needed for the purpose described above, then delete it, anonymise it or securely isolate it until deletion is possible in a backup cycle.

  • Newsletter details are kept while you remain subscribed. After unsubscribe, we may keep a minimal suppression record so we do not add the address back by mistake.
  • Contact messages are kept long enough to answer, document the outcome and handle related questions or legal claims.
  • Consent and compliance records are kept for the period needed to demonstrate the choice made and meet applicable limitation periods.
  • Security logs and backups are rotated on operational schedules unless an incident requires a record to be preserved.
  • Analytics reports may be retained in aggregated form after direct identifiers are removed or are no longer available to us.

We consider the sensitivity of the information, the risk of harm, legal duties and whether the same purpose can be met with less data when setting each period.

09

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live and the legal basis used, you may have the right to ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information, or to object to its use. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Your direct-marketing choice: use the unsubscribe link in any Beautyisles marketing email. For other requests, contact us. We may need to verify your identity and may retain a record of the request.

If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. If you are in the EEA, you may complain to the supervisory authority where you live or work. We would appreciate the chance to address the concern first.

10

US state privacy rights

Residents of California and certain other US states may have rights to know, access, correct or delete covered personal information, and to appeal a denied request. Beautyisles does not sell personal information for money and does not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics. We do not discriminate against readers for exercising a privacy right.

Where a state law applies to us and recognises an authorised agent, the agent may submit a request on your behalf. We may ask for proof of authority and may still need to verify the request with you.

11

Children

Beautyisles is written for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

12

Security, policy changes and contact

We use administrative, technical and organisational measures proportionate to the information we handle. No internet service can promise perfect security, so please use the forms only for the information requested.

We update this policy when our practices, providers or legal duties change. A material change will receive a new review date and, where appropriate, a more prominent notice.

To exercise a right or ask a privacy question, contact Beautyisles.
